My office has ordered from here for a lunch in. I decided to go the restaurant I was by myself. I ordered the larb beef as I had enjoyed it before at the office. I was only given the option medium or spicy. I choose medium ( new to ordering ). I asked if he could toss some bean sprouts on the top at the end. He replies NO they do not belong. I was a bit taken back but continued as I was looking forward to the food. As I waited he asked if I had ever been there, I replied no but my office has ordered for a lunch before. His reply was so you have been here sharply. No I said not here before. I found the conversation very odd, as he said all of his comments very cocky and confident with a smile. I did not feel welcomed as a white single lady at the table. He brought the food and I began to eat. It was soooo hot I thought there is no way I can eat this. I tried to enjoy what I could with the sticky rice but it was not enjoyable sadly. The flavor was great but the heat was just too much. He did ask me from the counter how it was. I replied as I continued to eat it. It is a bit spicy for me. He replies with what are complaining about you are eating tia. I found the whole evening condescending. He was extremely rude, and I think he enjoyed being so. I left a $20 to cover the meal and the food on the table. Sad really I was looking forward to enjoying a new restaurant in Auburn and bringing family and friends to try. I won’t be back. Not for the spicy food, I guess I should learn a bit more about tia food. But for the dark haired almost shaven cut, wearing the red shirt you are rude and arrogant. I was polite and paid for the meal. Keep up this kind of customer service and treatment to people who try your place, you will be out of business at some point....
Read moreThe first time I visited pre-Covid it was good. Girls at the front counter friendly and extremely helpful and the food was very good!👍 But that all changed when I dropped by last week. The food was still good but the service was horrible! It was like I was an alien when I walked in. Nobody wanted to help or explain things. The gentleman just walked away even though I was clearly struggling to find what I enjoyed last time on the menu. I almost walked out. Another gentleman walked up and stood as far away from the counter as possible and asked if I had questions. He became impatient when I tried to explain what I had last time. He stated a dish in another language that I could not understand so I pointed at what I thought he said. Then he said add chicken and rice. I said ok. I had no idea the small fortune it would cost for adds! I was under the impression that rice was part of the lunch. Then I was made to pay with tip before I had any food. The only tip options were 15 and 20 percent. I asked if there were other options and was told no. I should've walked straight out the door again . After almost 25 minutes later I heard yelling from inside. I was sitting on the tables in front of the building clearly in sight. No one bothered to deliver the food out to me. I ended up walking back into the building asking if this was for me. No response other than a plastic bag with a receipt on the table. Looked at the receipt and it was the amount I paid so I assumed it was mine and returned to the table to eat. The food was still good albeit very expensive now. Additionally, I have to agree with another reviewer that the portions are very small. I would've been hungry had I not ordered the rice as well. Needless to say I won't...
Read moreGor Gai Thai Street Food is a very authentic Thai hole in the wall restaurant. They even open the doors and windows nice and wide like they would in Thailand. It also gives a great feel of fengshui. The decor and ambiance gives you a real feel of Thailand, as well.
Seating is average, with about 8 tables inside and 3 tables outside. Chairs are uniform. Customers get a tray of various sauces and a bottle of water for self refills.
The staff are very friendly. During lunch, the restaurant was pretty full and the staff of 3 people managed to get food and service out in a reasonable amount of time. They were also constantly busy with to go orders and phone orders. We are greeted with a traditional Thai welcome phrase, asked to pick our own seats, and water+menus were given to is shortly after.
The food was quite good. We ordered a pad see ew and a fried chicken dish with ginger flavored rice. The pad see ew was well made: crispy vegetables, rice noodles tender, and chicken moist. It wasn't overly sauced like many Thai places will do. The grief chicken was crispy and juicy and came with a sweet chili sauce to dip in. Honestly, though, while the chicken was good, I was in love with their ginger flavored rice. It was unexpected, but in a good way. In addition to the food, we got a Thai ice coffee. It was wonderful. It tasted like a really good coffee ice cream, but liquid.
Overall, beautiful experience. I would highly recommend and I will certainly be coming here again whenever I...
