Hamilton's On Ogletree — Restaurant in Auburn

We had a gift certificate to this restaurant and decided to check it out. We went at 6-7pm and it was fairly packed. Hostesses greet you at the door and you are escorted to your seat. They have a good variety of wines as well as mixed drinks to offer. If you don't drink of course there are fountin drinks or tea. Our wait wasn't long and we ordered. I had the grilled catfish with a crawfish remoulade sauce which came with cheese grits and steamed spinach. I had the option of getting my catfish blackened and my date had a club sandwich which was served with fries. My catfish and grits was ok but not seasoned to my liking and the spinach was not good. My date enjoyed his club sandwich and fries. We had sweet tea to drink and it was pretty good. The bathroom was clean and well stocked but there wasn'tababy changing station in there for moms with small children. I did see a child in a high chair so they are available. There was a bar area in back but it was pretty crowded so I didn't walk through to look at it. For those that may not be aware this location is a newer spot for Hamilton's versus the older perhaps better known location in downtown Auburn just up the street from tumors corner. While newer this location upheld the fine service and food standards of the downtown location that is closer to the university. While I could recommend both locations to any area visitors, unfortunately, we may not be returning soon as the student who was the focus of our visits to Auburn graduated last weekend. In any case if you're in the area and looking for a good place for a meal lunch brunch or dinner this is a good choice. My husband and I frequent both locations every date night. I also frequent both locations with friends often. We’ve always had good experiences but today was the first time it really wasn’t very good. I went with a friend today to Hamiltons on Ogletree and our order was messed up which is fine, they fixed it and it was no big deal. We both got salads, and they weren’t very good at all. My tomatoes were mealy, the chicken was freezing cold and had a strange after taste, the dressing was metallic tasting. The whole thing was really just inedible and after a couple bites I just couldn’t eat it. My friend has asked for a second drink and never got it, I asked for boxes for my kids food and never got them. And then the checks came and while she initially gave us the right checks, she charged my friend for my bill and me for hers. Just a poor experience over all.
