We’re in Auburn, Alabama, and checked out Lucy’s, a modern, seasonal restaurant by Chef Brian Paolina — and it did not disappoint. We started with The Farmer’s Daughter, a massive board with hummus, whipped feta, veggies, lemon aioli, and the star of the show — maple-fried Brussels sprouts with thick bacon lardons. Sweet, salty, crispy perfection. My wife had the Caesar Lucia, a fun twist on the classic with cotija, Birria croutons, and grilled shrimp. Light, tangy, and packed with flavor. I went all-in on fall with the pumpkin sage pappardelle — creamy, rich, and comforting, though just a touch on the sweet side. Dessert was a Valrhona Caramélia Budino with miso caramel and sea salt — the kind of dessert that makes you sit back and go silent for a second. Lucy’s is proof that Auburn is becoming a real foodie town — creative dishes, local ingredients, and serious attention to detail. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Chef-driven dining worth the stop. #AuburnEats #LucysAuburn #AuburnFoodie #FoodieTravel #SouthernEats

We were passing through and decided to find a place for brunch. After a quick search and viewing this place, I knew everyone would be happy to stop here! Now, when we first walked in, we were told it was a 30 minute wait but there were several empty tables. The hostess recommended we eat at the bar, and as we were in a hurry with our tight schedule, we obliged. Now normally, I wouldn't mention anything but hearing this and seeing how empty the restaurant was at the time was off putting. Needless to say, we were happy with our meal when we finally sat down! We ordered the shrimp and grits, Lucy's big bad breakfast, the smoked salmon tartine and a Mandarin basil smash. Now that Mandarin basil smash was super refreshing for brunch and I enjoyed it! I would have preferred a bit more basil to help bring out that orange flavor, but aside from that, it was a great drink. My mom had the shrimp and grits and said that was the best shrimp and grits she had in a long time! She couldn't stop ranting and raving about how the seasoning and cook with everything on that plate was to perfection. My mom is particular so her saying this is a compliment! My step dad had the Lucy's bad breakfast and there was not a crumb left on that plate when he was done! He thoroughly enjoyed his food! I had the smoked salmon tartine which was good! Bit of a messy eat, as the items on the bread are loaded on there, but between the fresh ingredients and perfectly smoked salmon, I enjoyed my plate! Our waitress at the bar was very pleasant and recommended we try the lavender donuts, which we got to go! All in all, a great restaurant for the excellent customer service, remarkable food, cute decor and good vibes! When we're in the area again, we will have to stop for dinner!

After a hike in Auburn I was on the hunt for a great meal. Came across Lucy's and it's great reviews so came hungry and excited. Told there was a two hour wait without a reservation so we had to sit at the bar. Started with cocktails and sharables with a friend. The Lemon Lavender donuts started out strong and we're my fav part. The fries with truffle oil were also good. The drink was not bad but was a little odd. Had coconut but I don't recall the name. Next another cocktail and entrees. The bartender said the chicken and waffles was the best thing on the brunch menu so took the recommendation as that's a safe bet. Second cocktail was better but I noticed after both that they weren't very potent and while I'm not trying to get wasted they were around $28 together but I was barely buzzed (like I enjoy being at Saturday brunch). The entree looked amazing and looks were deceiving. The chicken was dry while somehow the breading was wet. The sausage gravy is a strange choice for chicken and waffles and it missed the sweet spirit of the dish. The waffle was also pretty soft and I hoped for more bold flavors from the hash. The potatoes looked well season and had pepper and onions but it was also soft and didn't hold much flavor. The dish felt thrown together was sad leftover components. Perhaps I just came at an off shift. I paid over $70 after tip for brunch for one and left without a buzz and disappointed. Also the restaurant never appeared more than half full so I never understood the 2 hour wait. Shrug. Great bartender though. Environment was pretty laid back and seemed nice. If you go order the donuts

Update: I have changed to 3 stars. The owner personally reached out and provided great feedback. I believe it was truly an “off weekend” and the issues can be fixed with proper training. Lisa truly cares about her business, and we will give it another try for dinner.

I have to say I had extremely high hopes for Lucy’s in Auburn. We come to Auburn from Atlanta 1-2x a month, and I wanted to find a new brunch spot. Acre is our favorite restaurant in Auburn, so I was hoping Lucy’s would be on par.

However, aside from the drinks and appetizers, the rest was a flop.

Immediately from the start, the hostesses were extremely rude. They said they couldn’t seat us because there were two parties of 6 already seated. She then seats a group of 5 (4 adults and a child), which she appeared to know personally. Keep in mind, our party of 6 included 5 adults and a young teenager.

When I asked the logic in that decision, one of the hostesses snapped back that they only have 5 and one is a child. She explained if she were to seat us, we’d have to wait an hour for food because the kitchen would be overwhelmed. She then decided to seat us, and it got worse.

She took us to the left and sat us at a small high top table. I nicely asked if we could sit at the table next to it which is a normal, low table (it’s hard for my parents to sit at the high top tables with stools). She scoffed but said yes. After we were looking at the menus, she came over and made us move to the other side of the restaurant and said there would be no server to help us if we stayed. It made no sense, because other tables were around.

At this point, I’m livid. However, I kept composure and moved because I wanted to have a good brunch with my family. There were only a total of 4 tables in the entire restaurant.

The waitress, Mahaley, was really nice and attentive. The appetizers and drinks were really good. My medium well burger was completely raw though on the inside with the outside burnt. They offered to re-make it. However, it took a long time and the manager came by to apologize and say that entree was comped. They did bring the burger to go, which was really nice.

Overall, for $199.47 for six people, the meal was just not worth it. If you go, focus on appetizers and drinks. I honestly will not be going back. It’s so important to have friendly staff making the experience good from the beginning. However, the hostesses were the main issue. The raw burger can be fixed, a pretentious, piss poor attitude cannot.

Menu Breakdown:

-Lucy’s Bloody Mary 5/5 -Pineapple Mimosa 3/5 (very weak) -Lucy’s Frosé 4/5 (needs more flavor) -Pomegranate Apple Sangria 5/5 -Lemon Lavender Donuts 5/5 -Lucy’s Pimento Cheese 5/5 -Lemon Ricotta Pancakes 5/5 -Brioche French Toast 4/5 (very sweet) -Lucy’s Big Bad Breakfast 5/5 -Ahi Tuna Burger 5/5 -Juicy Lucy Burger 1/5 (raw inside, burnt...

Was in town for Iron-Bowl so decided to take my daughter and friends for a nice dinner on Sunday and had the reservations for over 3 weeks. Firstly they contacted my daughter at 3:00pm the day of and asked if we could move our time from 6:45pm to 7:15-7:30 as they said they had a large party arriving….well they either took the reservations after ours were made or they shouldn’t have taken our reservation. She politely said no and we would like to come at our original time as we had early flights. I’m a 25 year veteran of the hospitality industry and had a friend with me who owns 4 successful restaurants in Chicago and we were both very surprised they would call to try and change our time. We arrived at 6:40 and we’re given a table outside on patio which my daughter booked. After seated with a friend, my daughter and her two friends arrived. Not sure if we were being penalized for not changing reservations but no one took out drink order for almost 20 minutes. Someone came by to change propane for heater and said they would be back in a minute and it was 20 minutes later. We watched as table next to ours had a server stop constantly. Also we were told me must put our dinner order in with our appetizer order…..very odd and not very customer friendly especially when we had not even received our drinks yet….We all then felt rushed to chooses something…and surprising only 5 entrée’s to choose from. They did bring appetizers before dinner and will say the brussel sprouts and truffle fry’s were fantastic. The signature cocktails looked very good and those that had them enjoyed. Beer list very sparce , nothing draft which would have been nice…canned beer selection also small.

Several of us had the fried-chicken which was good. Two had the gnocchi and were a little disappointed, said it seemed “not fresh” or made early in day.

Overall experience was good but would have been much better with better service and no strange policy...
