We showed up and got an array of different tacos at around 8:30 PM, right before they closed. It was a very popular spot, there was a crowd ordering and the sweet smell of charred meat mixed in with the freshness of the summer evening air. We were salivating already at the mere smell of the meat and the tortillas.
The hostess Maria was very friendly, serving everyone with a huge smile and friendly conversation. Our food came out quickly and everyone was very casual and friendly. Genuinely good vibes.
There is SO MUCH MEAT on these tacos. Every single taco overflowing with a LITERAL MOUNTAIN of deliciously charred, tender meat cubes glistening with deliciously flavored oils, layered on succulent cheeses. Every single box we opened was literally overflowing with meat. I tried picking up the al pastor taco and there was so many strips of massive, perfectly charred pork with a deep smoke ring that the homemade tortilla was bursting at the seams.
I also got the platillo of carne asade and it came with simple white rice and frijoles. Again, a huge, massive mountain of perfectly tender, perfectly-seasoned cubed beef chunks. Every bite was heaven when mixed in with the beans and rice.
This place is on another level. In this era of skimpflation and restaurants minimizing portions, I was just shocked to see SO MUCH MEAT, like a COMICAL AMOUNT of high-quality meat in every taco. Yes, now it makes sense why their tacos are like $7-$8 a pop. That's a bit pricey, but for this much meat the value must be insane.
Definitely...
Read moreI went here based on a recommendation, and I'll start with the positive.
They have a salsa bar with 3 various types of salsa from mild, medium, and hot while also having guacamole. You can put your salsa into the little salsa cups and take them to go or back to your table
They have precut limes in there for you to grab. It was well stocked.
I had (4) Asada tacos at $6.50 ea. And while it was a very large portion, it was also very fatty meat.
I had gotten a bottle of Squirt, and it was very cold and refreshing.
The negative:
The salsa was very watery and is more designed for chips and dip than what you'd put on a taco. By the time I had gotten to my 3rd and 4th taco, the tortilla had starred falling apart from all the water soaking into it.
The cilantro was mixed in with the onions, and I am not a fan of onions and so I was unable to add cilantro to my tacos.
The limes were dried out, I grabbed the 4 freshest looking limes, but it seemed as though they had been sitting out for a few days.
The meat was cut into square chunks. However, the steak was very fatty, and I spent more time removing the fat from the meat after I had taken a bite than I did eating.
I paid $33 for (4) tacos and (1) drink, I felt it was very overpriced for the quality of the food, and while I can say that I've been, I doubt I'll...
