This place is incredible. We walked in and the whole restaurant was empty. There was a funky musty smell and "Hellboy" was on the TV loudly and directly above me. My boyfriend and I almost left before ordering. Our server was friendly and polite. Boyfriend ordered shrimp fajitas and I ordered camarones a la Diabla. We did not have high expectations. Our food came out within reasonable time and the portions were huge. The food was plated nicely and each item was proportionate. I mean like when you get beans and rice with your meal you plate isn't all beans and rice. My shrimp was the main focus and was seriously the best I've had in years. This is my favorite dish so I order it everywhere I go that offers it. I know my evil little crustations. This food was so good I could almost taste the love and years of hard work gone into this moment. I am not sure if the woman that made the most soul fulfilling meal I've eaten in years is an owner or family to the owners but I hope she will be the one to make this Everytime. I am so glad we stayed. I almost don't want to post this because I don't want to let out my dirty little secret but I want this place to succeed and the only way to do that is to get people in the door. I would easily put off paying a bill to make sure I have money for a meal here. I am actually upset it's only 6:30 am and I can't...
Read moreWent there for dinner during dinner time, and no other person was there besides those that work there. Usually isn't a good sign, but we hadn't tried this place yet and wanted to give it a fair chance. We were sat down at a booth shortly after entering. Water took a few minutes, then our order was taken. My order was completely wrong, even though I was very specific on what I wanted. They were nice enough to make it, but the food already took a long time to get it the first time, so waiting for it to be made took much longer. Our waters were empty and my companion was almost done with her plate by the time I got mine. The water was not refilled the rest of the night, and we did not get asked how we were doing until we were completely done with our food nearly 30 minutes later. By that time, there were only 3 occupied tables and 2 waitresses working, but they were not around at all. I don't understand why both waitresses were gone for very large chunks of the time... unless they were the cooks, too. I do not recommend this place, and will not be back again.
Didn't get a chance to take a picture of the menu, but fajitas...
Read moreHungry and lacking inspiration, we discovered Sin Pancho because of a discount coupon in the Seattle/North Puget Sound Entertainment Book. This is one of those classic Mexican Restaurants that seem indistinguishable from the one down the street (or in the next town).
Sin Pancho is not upscale, but it's not a hole-in-the-wall either. Happy Hour Margaritas and Beer might be reason enough to give them a try, but the food is good, plentiful and reasonably priced (even without a discount coupon).
Definitely old-style Mexican-American, we've eaten here several times now and I found the classic combination meals (two or three items selected from a list of standard items: tacos, enchiladas, tamales, etc.) served with rice and refried beans more than met our expectations. But the camerones a la diabla are "to die for" -- flavorful, spicy, but not too caliente!
Sin Pancho is not a four-star restaurant (there aren't any four star restaurants in Auburn). But I gave this simple, no-frills, family-owned and operated restaurant four stars because it was good, fun, reasonably priced and far exceeded my (admittedly low) initial...
