China City — Restaurant in Augusta

The good: Our wait for food wasn't too long. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. The price was reasonable.

The not so great: We are in town for an event and were hoping to get some decent chinese food, after reading several reviews we chose this place. Let me preface the food review by saying it definitely could have been worse but I'm wouldn't return. I ordered the Kung Pao and asked for spicy, there was zero evidence of heat. The vegetables had a weird greasy taste to them. The pork egg rolls were pretty decent. My husband ordered the General Tso's, I had a bite and it was better than mine for sure. Since they don't have plates and I didn't order a combo, I had to use the lid from my husband's order to eat ... it wasn't the easiest thing to do, and it wouldn't have been different if I'd have taken it to-go since I'm staying in a hotel and I also don't have plates here. Seating is very limited and it's almost as if they'd prefer you took your food to-go; it was handed to me in a to-go bag. As you can see by the photos, there is just a lot of storage(?) stuff about the dining room.

Assumptions: it seems like their wings are probably good, we witnessed many orders be passed of to other customers - (if chicken wings were my thing I'd probably go back...

Placed an order online and waited over 40 minutes. The overall issue was not the wait, the issue was 2-3 customers coming in 15+ minutes after me and still getting their food prior. My order consisted of 4 smaller items. I’m really not too impatient and so I shrugged off the wait at first. The cashiers were super polite, had a lot of tolerance for rude customers, and did their best. Now for the real review, the food… how do you mess up General Tsos so bad? Out of all of the Chinese I’ve had in the CSRA area, it was the most rubbery and breading filled chicken I’ve had. The sauce was overly sweet and didn’t taste anything like General Tsos and even the large pieces of chicken were less than a quarter of meat. I swear to you all I am not exaggerating my experience. Maybe it was the cooks at the time, maybe it was improper training for breading to meat ratio, I have no idea. I’m just genuinely displeased with having spent what I spent. I’ve had better food on...

Food good, so so service. Called in to ask how much 10-20 lemon pepper wings would be, had been a while since I ordered from them. Told by chick only 8 or 12 pieces with incorrect prices. Gave my order, then realized I was overpaying by doing 12 lemon pepper wings. Changed to two 8 pieces. Went to pick up and was told by chick who gave me wrong prices I was the guy who didn't know what he wanted. I told her I knew what I wanted and she didn't give me correct information on the phone. May not go back. Too much hassle just trying to get correct prices and information. They cut their nose off to spite their face, had I been given the correct information they would have been given a bigger order...
