Decent Mexican food, friendly place. Great drinks!
UPDATE: Originally gave Ritos 4 Stars a few years ago, It was one of our favorite places for Mexican food. I used to recommend them to friends and took family from out of town there because I knew it'd be great. Unfortunately, things have changed! From what I understand, Rito's has new owners and other friends and family I've talked have said the same thing about the change in quality. I don't know if old owners took recipes with them or the new owners thought they could do better but it's really changed for the worse.
My family ordered carryout, all 3 of us got entrees and we got guac and chips too. My wife went with her favorite, Chicken Enchiladas Verde, I got the Carne Asada dinner and my daughter got Chicken Flautas.
What a disappointment!
Carne Asada was bland, but what little flavor it had was not good. Steak was chewy and very tough. It was so bad, I ate 3-4 bites and threw it all away, even the rice and beans weren't worth eating. My wife and daughter both complained about their food as well. Everything was bland or off tasting. None of us finished our food and the majority of it was thrown away.
One of the biggest disappointments was their guacamole. It used to be awesome and on weekends it was made tableside. Now it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. We used to order extra guac because it was so good, and now it's bland and boring, ended up tossing it as well.
We didn't call to complain because we didn't want a food credit because we won't be eating there again. If it had been one item that was bad it'd be different. Every restaurant makes mistakes and we would have mentioned it to them for a replacement but when everything is terrible it's not a mistake.
I hope they figure it out because it used to be so good and it's close to my home. Someone that works there needs to actually taste the food. If they think it's good, they're in the...

You may have thought you entered a morgue, but in fact you'd be wrong, you've entered Rito's Mexican restaurant. A quaint little restaurant at the west end of the strip mall located at the corner of 87th and Frontenac Road.
Known for their powerful margaritas and drink specials, this place has been around for a while, serving mediocre food at a high price.
Our group was treated to a swarm of flies for our 90 minute visit and direct sunshine in our eyes from the west window of the establishment which was adjusted twice during our stay. Luckily they made up for it by it by cancelling the drink/food specials.
I ordered 3 tacos which came with canned refried beans and Uncle Ben's Mexican Rice. The one saving grace is that they do offer carry out if you're in a pinch.
Onto the review. I give Rito's Mexican Restaurant a 2 star average review for below average ambience and average service. If you have a chance, and live in the area, go someplace else.
Until next time this is Robbie the Review guy wishing you and yours good eats...
Read moreThe food was excellent. There were no obvious meatless selections here, however, I ordered the Burrito Sabroso with no meat. The server suggested I add roasted veg to it and it sounded good. This was, hands down, the best burrito I've ever had - with or without meat. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, and the accompanying rice and beans were perfect. My husband and son had the tamales and were very satisfied, my daughter had the kids burrito and (for a super picky, tear everything apart and complain kind of kid) actually ate it. The 2yo had the kids quesadillas and was satisfied.
The margaritas are a little "eh". I've had better, but they weren't bad and they were plenty strong enough so after you got a quarter of the way through it tasted juuust fine.
The service was ok, a bit on the slow side and there were a few mixups with our order. Everyone was so nice though, polite and caring, and seemed to be working hard to make everything right for us that it's hard to complain about it.
Even with OK margaritas and OK service, I still have to give it five stars because the food was that good. I'm not easy to please, but we'll definitely be...
