Tonight my husband and I decided to swing by Amy’s on the way home from date night. We waited behind one other customer and listened to the two employees discuss what all they needed to do tonight after “this line” (non work related things.) It struck me as odd, because the “line” consisted of the single customer they were currently taking care of, and then my husband and I. I looked around and noticed that there wasn’t anyone at the outside window. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but when it was our turn to order, I asked for a small sweet cream with Oreos and strawberries. The Amy’s employee then let me know that the strawberries and Oreos would be on top of the ice cream instead of “crushed in”. When I asked him why, he said that it was because they were “short staffed” and that that was what they needed to in order to “get to everyone in line.” I looked around and saw that only one other couple had come in in behind us, and still no one at the outdoor window. After that, the second employee went on to inform us that they were out of strawberries. Which I totally understand, things run out. But the crush-in situation was ridiculous and thoroughly unexpected. I’ll also note that when we got in the car, I checked the current time (8:45pm) and then the Amy’s location closing time to see if it in some way explained our experience. However, the Google Business hours showed that the Manor location stays open...
Read moreToday is my birthday, and Amy’s ice cream is closed (understandably) after a week of awful snow, freezing temperatures, and power and water outages. I’ve wanted one of their ice cream cakes for my birthday and decided I would call in just to see if they happened to be open. The employee I spoke with (I don’t know his name, but you’re amazing!) told me that they would be closed today, likely until tomorrow. I said it was no big deal- I just wanted an ice cream cake and I could totally wait. He told me to stop by and get one, and that it was his pleasure to provide some cheer after an awful week. After being one of the households that didn’t have water or electricity for all 4 days of this crazy blizzard/apocalypse, it absolutely made my entire day. It was such a sweet gesture and made me love Austin even more. Thank you for being a kind...
Read moreThe Amy's location on Manor Rd left me with no taste in my mouth. There were two clerks, one young male one female. The young male was assisting with in person orders while the female made something that she simply set aside. Instead of helping next customer in line, myself and my partner, she proceeds to assist the young clerks with making one of his three total orders. The young male noticed that she wasn't attempting to assist us she he let her take over his order then he proceeded to greet and assist, only for us to find out that Amy's has general menus for all locations even if the menu item in question is not sold at that location. I left without purchasing. Having a menus with items you cannot actually purchase coupled with the females attitude made for a very poor experience, that I will not...
