I am updating this review to 5 stars from 4 stars for now. As of this moment in time, I rank Ocean Labs as the best cold plunge sauna center in Austin alongside Lizard yoga. Kuya coming in beneath them.
Why am I upgrading my review? To begin with, it looks like they cleaned up their staff and have Ivy managing this place (at the time I’m writing this). She is awesome — I felt like she was a better fit and I think Ocean Labs took the hint! Jerika, also seems to be great and doesn’t allow her personal conversations to get in the way of being on time with her clients’ appointment times.
Secondly, it seems that they are conducting things more so on an appointment basis rather than a free for all basis which allows the members who pay good money to be here to get more of the peace and privacy that they deserve. This place has turned into more of a human optimization center and less of a social club. Bravo.
Like I mentioned in their old review, their PEMF machine is amazing — world class.
2 recommendations/areas of growth I’ve identified for them is to try best to: (1) prepare arrangements for maintenance during times when the highest paying members aren’t on site to maintain the feng shui of things. I know this might not always be easy/possible to do though. (2) Keep irrelevant conversations with people who don’t pay to come here to a minimum, especially in the areas where members have to wait for their services.
In my observation, they have the cleanest saunas in Austin hands down. I also think it’s the perfect temperature for me cuz I get the benefits of detox/hgh boost without murdering my sperm cells.
Looks like my feedback has garnered the most resonance from the relevant community based on the number of likes this has received —————————
Old review:
The Ocean Lab is ultimately a great place. However, this sauna/cold plunge center may not suit everyone's taste.
As someone who has tried memberships (not day passes but memberships) at almost every similar facility in the city, I would rank it top 3, following Lizard Yoga and Kuya.
Although there are some big advantages, there are also some notable drawbacks.
Pros:
The staff members are attractive and focused on yoga and meditation.
The pricing model for cold plunges and floats is the best in Austin, without a doubt.
The center has the best PEMF machine in town.
Cons:
The space is limited, so if you don't get along with everyone in the center, there is not much room to move around, aside from the private saunas. However, the private saunas are not very hot.
The community sauna can be very cliquey, and my experience there has been hit or miss. Some people are awesome/down to earth, while others came off as airheads who can't go a day without bragging about their outdated Porsche, for example.
The vibes with the staff members can also vary. I had great experiences with some of them not so much with others on...

This is the ultimate retreat for your mind and body!
Having never tried a "float tank" before, I went into the experience with no expectations.
Because I was a first-timer, Ocean Lab offered me a 30-minute float session as an introduction to the salt bath therapy (which I was extremely excited about given the fact that a longer duration would require much more of a time commitment!)
However, from the moment I stepped into the tank all I could think was I wish I would have opted for the 60 minute or the 90 minute session!
The feeling of weightlessness is unlike anything else you'll ever experience... like magic, your body becomes a cloud over the warm salt water...
Alleviating all pressure and stress from your muscles and from your spine.
If you're someone who feels compressed, sore or achey in your joints, muscles or bones (especially within your spine), this is a MUST TRY experience that you owe to yourself.
Aside from the soothing decompression of floating on top of water (which is totally surreal!), Ocean Labs state-of-the-art float tank technology MADE the experience truly unforgettable.
Their tanks are equipped with a starry sky (twinkling LED lights in the ceiling), subtly soft color changing lights to illuminate the salt water in the tank as well as an option for music. What's more is that you can control these features yourself within your tank during your session! I felt this really let me customize the experience to my relaxation preferences.
Plus, you are provided with a private pre-float service that includes a luxurious tea tree shower (to remove the natural oils from our skin before entering the tank) and super comfortable easy-to-use ear plugs (that keep water out of your ears during your float).
All in all, I have tried many different forms of stress-relieving therapies and I've never encountered THIS level of tranquility.
The peace, solitude and full body decompression I experienced during my float impacted me days after the session.
So if you're looking to give your body and mind the break they so desperately deserve, I encourage you to give this float spa a try.
Say goodbye to tension and hello to instantly feeling lighter, calmer and ready to take...
Read moreFloating at the ocean lab is quite the experience which starts upon walking into the doors of the space. The ambience of the main area along with Jerry the shark immediately welcomes any and all parts of the human psyche and conditioning to drop into a state of joy, acceptance and calm.
Eric is also an amazing host and cofounder who is a master facilitator of relationship and community building skills and comes prepared with fine tea pouring service to indulge our taste buds and warm our souls before our float. Might I also add, Briana, Cassaundra and Tyler are all amazing, beautiful and kind souls that also make you feel super comfortable and at ease with their lovely energies ❤️
The sauna is a great way to start this blissful experience by detoxing the mind and body which then sets up for the actual float. The beautiful space made of cedar wood from Dripping Springs also entices the olfactory buds for a super grounding effect!
Once I was in the chamber, I could hear nothing but the sound of my breath and heart beat. It was so calm and peaceful and I was immediately able to drop into a state of nothingness. I was surrounded by the warm salt water which then disappeared as my body and the water became one with each other, surrendered to being completely held, weightless and safe.
After getting out of the tank, the “zen den” area is a nice landing pad to integrate, journal and reflect about the whole experience. Since this float experience I have floated 8 times and counting with the unlimited membership which I highly highly recommend as something that will allow you be in these states often.
As a result of continued floating, I have noticed less stress, more presence, gratitude, joy, love, passion and focus with my business. The salt water has also acted as a buffer and cleansing of my mind, body and spirit which has been super healing for me. I highly recommend the Ocean Lab for your float spa as it is the BEST place in town to calm and...
