Update: They've responded to my review and if they truly cared that I was uncomfortable and want all customers to have a good experience, then why are there multiple reviews of people who also felt discriminated against? Even as far back as 6 years ago. That doesn’t sound like a business that cares to me.
I visited this establishment in the fall of last year and got a weird vibe but thought maybe I had imagined it. I went there again recently and had the same subpar experience. Both of the workers I interacted with were not friendly at all. The person who was helping with the herbs was super friendly and chatty with the person in front of me and even walked them to the register. However, with me, she barely acknowledged me and walked away from me when I was trying to tell her what I needed. The cashier wasn’t much better. Now that I see previous reviews I realize I was not imagining it and this place is definitely discriminating against people of color. I’m sure they couldn’t care less about my experience because their business is still getting lots of other customers but I needed to leave a review to warn other people of color. There are plenty of other places for herbs and such that would be glad to have your business. This just isn’t one of them. P.S. any generic response they leave on my review doesn’t change my experience and what actually happened. In my opinion, they are 100% a discriminatory...
Read moreWell learning about this and taking a herbology course and I need EVERYTHING and they had so much on my list! Just beware though I think big Pharma are cutting these places off cuz now they got hit with no notice and no explanation that they cannot use DEBIT CARD! So Cash and Zenmo only! They are moving from their spot of 40 years to Cameron Rd. So sad first Covid now this .Don't matter I drove 45 minutes to get there this I think is closer, "Live in Leander" They are closed Mondays which was my Bday but thank goodness a friend was getting me a gift certificate so she called them and they were closed. Then she called me back and said, don't go and drive that 45 minutes. They are closed, so thank goodness I didn't make that drive cause austin traffic is insane! So I went on Saturday and just be aware they have no parking. And I was happy to pay for 45 minutes which was $1.96 In the neighborhood close by (2 driveways away) this place is nostalgic old Austin LOVE IT. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly...
Read moreI stopped by here... made it just in time, 10 mins before closing after sitting in traffic for 1.5hrs. They said they could help quickly. The woman who helped us was incredible. So knowledgeable, just amazing! For such a happy place I was really shocked and appalled that the lady with short hair working there was very pushy and rude. She turned the lights off while we were standing there talking to the lady helping us... literally as the clock struck 6:30 (when they closed) Just turned the lights off. She just stood at the counter and starred. I feel like another approach should have been used to let us know it was time to go. We felt very unwelcome by that lady. We only stayed maybe 10mins after closing because the wonderful woman helping us kept asking us questions and giving us great info. When we walked out the door, the door was slammed and locked. I was at a loss for words. Do yourself a favor and don’t go right before they...
