AUTENTICOS MICHOACANOS ATX #2 — Restaurant in Austin

Okay, so I had ordered through doordash and was just trying to get my macros in also, it was cheat day and this place happened to be open. Well let me tell youuuuuu! I WAS NOT READY for how absolutely flavorful my burrito de pollo and taco de pastor was. Not only that but it actually tasted AUTHENTIC. Most Mexican places say "authentic"  but no, this spot right here tasted like my grandma made me the burrito. Also, their red salsa? It definitely wasn't your average tomato juice red salsa. They actually have their very own home made red salsa. Tasted like it was made of Chile de arbol? I may be completely wrong, overall it was just chefs kiss 🤌🏽 yummy! The burrito was slightly greasy but it wasn't too greasy eeither. Every bite I took from my burrito I was just doing mt little happy dance. It had so much flavor, it's very own flavor at that. If their food was this tasty? Then I can only imagine what their agua frescas are going to be like. Definitely will be letting my neighbors and their mamas know, this is the spot to go too!  I'll be back in person to personally thank you for how absolutely amazing my meal was tonight....

Best tacos in the city.

I've been here several times in the last month now, each time with at least one other person, and gotten spreads of different things and worked thru maybe half the menu. Constantly hits every mark (consistency, proper portion, presentation, seasoning, balance, timeliness).

All masa (pambazos, tacos, quesadillas, sopes, huaraches) is pressed and cooked to order. Some places have lots of different meats, but end up seeming like they used the same timer, temperature and method to cook, nothing stands out. Here each protein is cooked to its proper texture, and full of flavor. You can taste the love and expertise in each order.

Two people take orders and cook. Super friendly and attentive each time.

They even have fruit desserts and drinks, like rusas, mangoneadas, and agua fresca made from a long list of somehow always perfectly ripe fruit, always enough chamoy and chile to balance it.

The menu can be a bit overwhelming at first but now we start planning our next order by the time we finish the current one. There is something for everyone here and none of it...

DAMN good birria tacos!! I imagine these tacos are best when fresh off the griddle but I ordered delivery and they were still crispy and with still slightly gooey cheese. The sliced radishes and cucumbers offered a nice offset in between bites of the hearty tacos. The birria broth was so good that I drank the remainder, I especially like it with a little bit of acidity from the slice of lime provided. The tortillas also looked fresh made since they were a little thicker than typical store bought.

I also bought elote in a cup and it was fresh and hot when I got it with a bunch of the dressings on top. Tastes like they maybe use Miracle Whip/Miracle Whip type mayonnaise instead of normal mayonnaise which gives a slightly sweet taste.

Anyway, it was awesome and I would've taken a picture of the food but I ate it faster than I broke my 2022 New...
