Having been a loyal and longtime patron of Tien Jin's (TJ's) for years I grew accustomed to the wonderful banter and customer service the prior owners gave their returning customer's. They always greeted you when you walked in the door but of course this was before they sold the business and it morphed into Sichuan River. I thought I would give the new owners a chance however it seem's each time I dine at this restaurant I leave frustrated and angry! The owner is aloof, impatient and appears to dislike her job. You can feel the vibe when you walk in the door. Last evening's experience was the last and final straw when I was accompanied by my friend who is disabled and in a wheel chair. We sat ourselves since no one greeted or acknowledged our presence. It was at this point that the owner came and asked us to move to a table in front of the restroom area which we promptly declined. We asked to sit at a larger table due to my friends wheel-chair size. The owner then appeared impatient and said they could not seat us at a larger table ( four chair) due to their policy to reserve this for larger parties even though the restaurant was not at all busy. At this point my friend and Got up and left to find a friendlier dining experience. This is not the first time I have found the owner to be severely lacking in social graces but it will be the last time I dine at this...
Read moreVery unprofessional and horrible customer service. Was difficult to have a conversation with my friends with 2 employees fighting in the kitchen causing a female employee into the restaurant crying profusely.
Our server, Micheal (doubt that's his real name. Took him a minute to think about a name when I asked him) was very rude in taking our orders. I asked him a few questions about the menu being my first time and he responded condescendingly. After the order arrived, I realized he hadn't completely informed me about the order I had placed. I didn't like it and I asked him if I could change it. He blatantly said "No". I asked him why and his response was "the food has already been cooked". I then asked to speak to the manager or whoever was in charge and he said there was no manager and no one was in charge and that he only worked there and if I wanted to change my order I would have to speak to the owner who was not available at that moment.
Note to the owner: I have never seen such level of unprofessional-ism at any restaurant establishment in Austin for the 10 years I have been here. I doubt your employees have gone through any form of orientation. I will be taking this matter up and I hope you do something about...
Read moreDo not eat here if you are Black!!!They are racist and extremely rude!!! I wish that I had read the reviews written by other Black patrons before eating here.Who knows what they do to our food? The waiter that I got was extremely unfriendly and short with me while I ordered my food. I noticed that he was friendly with the White customers, and I was the only Black person in the restaurant.I ordered the General Tsao dish with extra broccoli. When he brought it out to me, the broccoli was cold. I informed him and another female waitress about it.He rudely grabbed for my plate. Then, I told him that I did not want him to heat the cold broccoli that he had just given me.I wanted fresh, cooked broccoli. We both grabbed hold of the plate, and he proceeded to try and take it from me.Finally, the other waitress calmed him down and told him to leave the cold broccoli. She knew that I wouldn't be eating it. She also told me that it was normal for the broccoli to be cold.I asked to speak to the manager, and the waitress told me that she wasn't there and that she wasn't there much. She also told me that the waiter didn't speak English well, but I heard him speaking fluent English to the other customers.I will never...
