Delicious tacos. Quick service. Loaded portion sizes.
5/5
I opted for the al pastor, birria, and brisket tacos, each one more delicious than the last.
The al pastor was flavorful and hearty. The birria and brisket, while slightly dry, were still packed with robust flavors that made each bite enjoyable. Despite the minor dryness, the overall taste was superb.
What stood out for me was the generous amount of meat stuffed into each taco (~$3.50/taco). The portions were substantial and definitely worth the price. It's not every day you come across a place that doesn't skimp on their servings.
The orange sauce was a delightful surprise with its creamy texture peppered with a few small chunks. It had just enough kick to spice things up but not too much to overpower the other elements of the taco.
The green sauce, on the other hand, was a classic Verde that complemented the tacos perfectly. It provided a fresh and tangy contrast to the rich meats.
In a sea of taco trucks along Burleson, CJ's Tacos stands out and is a great option for all taco lovers out there. While there is some room for improvement in terms of moisture content in some of their meats, this does not detract from their overall excellence in delivering delicious and hearty tacos paired with wonderfully...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay these are probably the most legit (& satisfying!) tacos I've found in Austin thus far. Austin seems to be awash in tacos. Some are okay, some are sub-par, and many are very expensive for what you get... CJ's doesn't fall into any of these categories. The tacos were generous, balanced, dynamic, flavorful, and satisfying. I only had the corn tortillas because that's the style I prefer: and they were delectable. I read somewhere that they are homemade or handmade, and I believe it. The birria seems to be their specialty, and I'd recommend it for sure. It's beef and not goat, but this is also my preference & it didn't disappoint. To balance it out I ordered their veggie taco & it was freaking awesome. The crispy fired avocado had a sumptuous, nutty flavor with accents of chunky mango salsa, and crisp freshness of chopped cabbage. I'm not vegetarian, but I'd be totally stoked and fulfilled eating these exclusively all day. The staff was warm & gracious and they seemed to appreciate my enthusiasm and authentic compliments. CJ's is worth visiting, even if you're in a different...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place has real good food.
The family that owns it is nice. They like each other at and they are proud of their food.
I was sitting here looking at my food when it first arrived and I thought man it looks pretty nice The only thing missing is not in a fancy restaurant. But then I picked it up and it's got this nice little Christmas to the taco to the tortilla mean and it's obviously a bit more time but it's certainly taste better and looks nice. But then I started picking it off the food just to make sure and without putting any sauce on it the food was fresh so I was like this is real cool. I later ran into the daughter the owner. I was giving her a hard time because she walked up and her food was already ready. So apparently you can call ahead she let me know that.
I don't want this place to get overrun so much that I can't come here but that'd be selfish.....and that's certainly not the kind of folks these people would...
