the helpful barista was the only redeeming quality for this place! Came in here for a chai (which took 10 minutes in an empty store) and sat down to eat a mango dessert from Hui Lau Shan next door while i waited. As I was minding my own business, this old lady who i later assume is a manager comes in and stares me down for a minute like im a zoo animal, before stalking up to me to unkindly ask what I’m eating. She then begins to declare that im not allowed to eat non-vegan foods in the store and accuses me of being “offensive to the customers and staff” GIRL BYE… WHAT CUSTOMERS??? Mind you im by myself in this store… so like PLEASE show me the customers that im offending 💀💀💀. -There are zero 0️⃣ signs that state the store’s boundaries. I would have no problem had she been nice about it and had customer service skills like the probably underpaid barista 1/3 her age. But no, she decided to treat a customer like a criminal instead of a human! But i guess I understand! I would be mad too if my coffee shop was completely bare on a Saturday morning in AUSTIN. 🙁🙁🥺🥺🥺 maybe there’s a reason for that babe! Completely insane. first and only time coming
The chai was really watery and sour for 6 dollars and a long prep time(i tipped and everything!)
Also i was raw vegan for 2 years. The only thing offensive to me was the price of medjool dates, not anyone else’s diet. Change ur store name. Cats aren’t vegan ESPECIALLY not fat ones....
Read moreI have been going to Fat cats since it opened. The food is definitely five star! But lately the change in employees has made me feel so uncomfortable that I don't think I'll be going back again. The last two times I've been there the gentleman working there has been either rude or snarky. I definitely pick up at town from ham that makes me not want to walk through the doors.
I took a friend there for her second visit last month and we ordered so much food and drinks. And we left a good tip individually. But his demeanor was less than lukewarm and I definitely felt uncomfortable and not very welcome. We felt like we were being a burden to him. I just returned again today and bought three cookies. Again his demeanor made me uncomfortable. He wasn't out right rude I will call passive aggressive. The best I could guess is that he was insulted that I didn't tip him for handing me three cookies. normally, I'm one of those people who does tip for simply being handed something over the counter. Because I've worked in the service industry. But after his treatment the last time and the sensation that he really has yet to understand what his role is as an ambassador to this establishment… I just didn't feel up to it was warranted. Any case, I doubt I'll...
Read moreNot allergy-friendly... or friendly at all, really. They openly mocked me for having allergies.
I went here to meet with a friend and was curious as to if I could have any of the baked goods/ ice cream. I was told by the lady at the front counter there is no allergy menu and she walked away. After she completed someone else's order, she returned to try and answer some questions about tree nuts, oats, and pea protein because I am severely allergic to them. I confirmed soy would work. She had no answers and said she'd ask the baker when he returned.
A couple minutes later, I hear her go to the open kitchen and ask the baker about ingredients. He states that he doesn't know what's in the ingredients for any of the baked goods, listens to the three things I can't have, and says, "why is she even in here?" before the other worker laughs and says "I don't know."
Well, I WAS in there to have a fun outing with my friend. I would've ordered coffee, but I don't support businesses that like to dehumanize those with medical conditions. Also, you sell 5 different things and can't tell me if there's tree nuts in them? No care for your craft.
This isn't the inclusive attitude we all know the Austin vegan...
