Outdated decor. Very dark ambiance, I do like the music choice however it's incredibly loud at times and that makes it very difficult to have a conversation. The TV doesn't work and the decor on the wall are very meh. Their website is also outdated, probably from the early 2000s.
I do enjoy the food here, especially the buddha bowls, however it's quite overpriced. The service is not very consistent and I see new servers too often. Very friendly customer service, however the only consistency with Galaxy is how they always manage to mess up your order or forget something. Kinda annoying because you would expect more for what you're paying, but that's life. I don't recommend getting the steak because it's a low quality piece of cut and they don't cook it very well.
Overall 1 out of 5 stars because of the inconsistency, uncomfortable ambiance/atmosphere of the restaurant, and constant mistakes with orders. I wish they would stop churning and burning the servers. I use to see familiar friendly faces, however that's no longer the case. Very disappointed at...
Read moreReally confused on the rave reviews most of the Galaxy Cafe's have for their Chicken Tortilla soup. I am a big fan of Chicken Tortilla soup and have tried it in a variety of restaurants.
I ordered it for the first time here and was not impressed at all. I have read reviews where they put that this is the best in town, here at Galaxy. Well my response is - Where in the world have you tried it before and I am sorry you feel that way.
Don't get me wrong, I love most food from this place but I am so put off with this soup that at the moment it is all I am focused on.
It is salty and all I get out of it is a salty onion and celery broth with some decent chunks of chicken. As someone who has cooked for decades, I am pretty sure the saltiness comes from leaving it on a high heat for too long and it condensed down.
In a nutshell, Go for the awesome wraps, stay clear of the Chicken Tortilla soup. And for those of you who think this is the best Austin has to offer - you need to...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this place while exploring the area and went in for lunch. I took a long time to decide but ultimately made a fine decision after circling back around to the first item that took my fancy, the Zocalo burger. I hadn't eaten a burger in a long time and this one was just wonderful: good beef and jack cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños, fresh lettuce and huge tomato slices, all on a wheat bun and with a nice spicy sauce on the side. I recommend you put half that spicysidesauce on the burger and use the remainder to dip your sweet potato fries in, which is definitely the side you should select to compliment this burger. (What's that? You don't really care for sweet potatoes? G.T.F.O.) My dear companion ordered the incredibly refreshing and delicious Brie and Smoked Turkey sandwich, which I feel compelled to note is made with an amazing chipotle apricot jam. We ate really well here, y'all. Nos gustó muchísimo. (Say...
