So far out of all the Kolache places I have tried, hands down the best is right here. They do not have the selections that the other places I have tried do - Kolache Factory & Lone Star Kolache, but these here don't have the manufactored factory feel to it. The ones I like the best are squarish and cut from a pan - different but delicious!
Ham & Swiss - so good. The dough is fresh, soft, a hint of sweetness - the diced ham and swiss cheese is abundant in this, almost baked into it but not - its hard to describe. The ratio of breading to filling is perfect, the swiss cheese is so creamy. Absolute perfection and probably my favorite one I have tried here.
Bacon & Cheese - pretty dang good too. There is alot of diced up bacon and cheddar cheese. I think I just prefer the swiss cheese in the ham one better, but this is delicious all the same.
Jalepeno Sausage & Cheese - the sausage in this one is huge and surrounded by that scrumptios breading. Very good!
Fruit Kolaches - I have tried a few different ones; Cream cheese, Apricot, and a Berry one. I loved them all, the filling and breading ratio, as with the savory ones - perfect. The filling delicous and not overly sweet, it compliments that soft breading well. My favorite so far for the fruit ones is the apricot!
The customer service is generally good here. It's a small Mom and Pop shoppe for sure and you can taste the love they have for their product.
I have seen reviews state that these are not traditional - well, a real traditional kolache are the fruit ones - not those round ones made at the chain places - and they sell these. Another thing to consider, a true kolache is only fruit filled ones and the ones with meat - savory - are actually called klobasneks which originated by Czech immigrants that settled in Texas. Like so many foods we eat - originated from other countries but "Americanized"
I have seen reviews complaining about not having vegetarian options - fruit kolaches do not contain meat -_-
There really isnt too much seating here but thats fine with me because I like to take mine to go. They have their day old selection but they do not taste a day old and the price is reduced - recommend for sure! There is a large variety of sweet pastries as well and cookies.
The reason for 4 stars is because last time I came and got a bag of the day old fruit kolaches, I was charged a lot less than this time for the same product. Also, about a month ago I tried to stop in on a Saturday about 11:45 am and they just closed up as I was walking to the door and the sign reads they are open until 2. Other than this, I would have given them a 5 star rating. They do make some amazing food here and I will be...
Read moreI found this place after doing a google search for a kolache place near me. I never knew this place existed. It's very hidden and not well advertised. It's in the same shopping center as the old Dallas Nightclub. It's kind of confusing, since the sign outside is Kolache Shoppe and the the name everywhere is Kolache Creation.
I came here on a Saturday morning, there was plenty of parking out front. There is not a lot in this shopping center with Dallas Night Club being gone an all, so parking should never be an issue. I ordered a lot of different things because I wanted to be able to give this place a fair try. I ordered the cinnamon twist and it was a little too hard for my liking. The cinnamon roll wasn't anything special. I got the sausage and cheese, the breading was good, but the sausage was tiny, so there was 90% bread 10% sausage and hardly any cheese. I also got the bacon and cheese one and that was good, a ton of bacon in it. The sausage and jalapeno was a completely different from sausage and cheese, like the sausage was not the same.
There is one table inside with 4 chairs, but it was being used to hold bread, it was fairly slow so we were able to sit outside on the picnic table and chat and enjoy our items. I guess they don't normally warm up your items, but he did when I requested it.
Overall I wasn't impressed with the options and the quality here. Unfortunately I would not recommend this...
Read moreBeen to this location many times over the years. I even worked there for about 5 years making all the kolaches. I made a stop the other day and man was I totally disappointed. When the new owners first bought it and opened, the kolaches were pretty similar. you could tell they just slightly tweaked the recipe . But I went again thinking it would still be the same, but it wasn't even close. The sausage kolaches were no longer the lil smokies but instead a huge wedge of a smokey Denmark which would explain why my bill was alot more than I expected. These were undercooked and not anything like the original. The cream cheese kolaches did not have the streusel on top like it always did and they too were very undercooked. Those two things were a major disappointment to my family since they had been looking forward to eating them . I ended up having to throw away the whole box and was glad i didn't end up buying any more extra since they all...
