Incredibly off putting and frankly pathetic experience.
My company just moved into the office park nearby and I tried Delaware subs for the first time the other day. It was fantastic, the lady who took my order was incredibly patient and friendly as I took my time deciding what to order from a menu full of hits. She gave me a menu to take back with me, and I raved about how good my sandwich was and how great an experience I had.
So today we decided to place an order for the 5 people in our office, spending around $100 on 5 sandwiches, some chips, and a can of coke. We placed our order online for pickup, and tipped through the service as no one had cash.
My coworker and I arrived to pick up the food and when we went to leave, the man behind the register said something I didn't catch but sounded like a question, and I assumed he was talking to the other customer there. As we got to the door he said something along the lines of "ok or don't, then" so I stopped and asked "I'm sorry, what?". He said "you tip your driver but not us?" We tried to clarify that it was a pickup order, not delivery, and that we'd left a tip on the card. He said that money didn't go to the businesses, and looked expectant. He kept pushing about the tip so I finally said "I don't carry any cash, but we're not far and will order again so we'll remember that for next time."
We checked with the service we used and they assured us that 100% of tips goes to the restaurant, so I'm not sure what his angle was.
I thought this was going to be a staple lunch spot going forward, but I don't tend to eat at a place where the employees try to guilt you into lining...
Read moreWow. I really wanted to like this place. I just moved to the neighborhood yesterday 10/4 & wanted to patronize a locally owned joint.
The owner was in a terrible mood. He immediately barked at me & asked if I was from DoorDash. I said No but my order is under ‘name’ and 2 small subs, 1 Italian & I think the other is meatball’ he snaps that he needs to see the order & deals with this all day. Literally no one was in there. Wasn’t busy.
I pull up the order & it was thru Google/DoorDash. My mistake. Then he says ‘we have a problem’. He scoffs at me bc on the online description it says boiled ham, I asked for NO boiled Ham & Prosciutto only. He tells me I asked to Substitute Prosciutto & it’s $20 a lb. I never asked for a substitute. And he said there’s no boiled ham. I said sorry I read ‘proscuttini ham as ‘prosciutto’ & just wanted one ham. He could have just called me to clarify but instead wanted to go on a rampage. I told him it said Boiled Ham online & I made a mistake on prosciutto Vs prosciuttini ham. He wouldn’t let it go. I finally had to say ‘have a good day’ and left.
I am so disappointed but will never patronize a business that is so aggressive - I know in my heart if I were a man he would have never spoken to me that way. . He said he owned the place. He could have just called me to clarify. My # was on the order. Why would he assume I’m trying to get something for free? It was an honest mistake & I will include a picture of the online menu that says ‘boiled ham’. Very unhinged & unprofessional. The meatball sub was super salty & Italian was just ok. The bread was good....
Read moreGreat subs, especially the cheesesteak, however over the years it has slowly turned into a small cheesesteak worth of meat and cheese into a large bun. I typically go once or twice a month and each time I do regardless of location there's a sprinkle of meat (the primary component of the sandwich) for the middle 1/2 of the roll, and the 2 inches on either end completely empty. This is at each location and consistent, it seems to just be a skimpy business decision. I also had a bad experience recently at one location with the sandwich being made incorrectly and the kid picking stuff off instead of remaking it, they were out of nearly everything, and I left feedback on their site. The owner called me two days later very apologetic, but complained to me for 10 minutes about how kids these days don't care and telling me he's going to fire the kid who made the sandwich, bragging he fires them all the time, despite my repeated assurances that it was a simple and common mistake and shouldn't result in him losing his job. On top of skimping on customers they seem to be a terrible company to work for as well. I was intent on giving them another try after the messed up order, but after talking to the owner and hearing the iron fisted way he runs the business from him himself, I wouldn't dare step foot in another Delaware, even to redeem the free sub...
