Meet Joe Cantu, owner of Henry's BBQ, located just outside the entrance of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, 2403 E Hwy 71, Del Valle, TX 78617. JOE... Henry's BBQ...Wait, what??? Henry was Joe's grandfather, a welder by trade, "butt" a brisket smok'n, no joke'n BBQ super hero that loved making those he fed smile! Well, Joe has that same spirit and super power! If you take a moment to stop and place an order at this hole in the wall just outside the airport entrance, you will definitely understand what I'm talking about and had the pleasure of experiencing first-hand. Grandfather Henry built the smoker that Joe uses to perform his culinary artistry and mentored Joe in fine tuning said BBQ skills... that's why Joe honors him by naming the business after his late grandfather. You see, Henry barely even got to use the old smoker before he passed away in 2014, but Joe knew his grandfather's efforts were not in vain and he wanted to take their shared passion to a whole new brisket loving level. Joe left his long-standing job, cashed out his 401K, his wife, Patricia, quit her job, and her sister, Monica, joined them on their BBQ quest! To say they're all in would be gross understatement! Going strong, full-time, since 2019, surviving and serving others through the C-vid Era, the Cantu family has displayed a "Can-do" attitude and work ethic that's reflected in the way you're greeted at the order window of the prep trailer, to when Joe personally hands you the mouth watering BBQ gift he's prepared just, for, you! Then, the deal is sealed with a smile, probably a very similar smile you might gotten from Henry several years ago. It's Joe's way of not just saying thank you, but I think he smiles, because he knows Henry is smiling at him share the love, one BBQ plate at a time... SO, if you are EVER near the Austin Airport and you want to treat yourself to a little piece of BBQ Heaven, stop in to "Henry's BBQ" and tell Joe, the old boy from SC, Gordon, sent ya... #Texas #Austin #BBQ #bbqribs #Brisket #HenrysBBQ #Foodventure #Food #FoodLover #LoveAndValuePeople #Blessed #HolesInTheWall

I've heard good things about this place & I was finally able to make time and see for myself. This is a small mom & pop operation. In my opinion, these places usually out perform the larger corporate chains. In this case, one of the owners does the cooking himself and he's deeply passionate about his product. The food does not come off as restaurant quality. It's more like home cooked food being served at a restaurant. Does that make sense... The cook was kind enough to come and chat with me. He was actually busy seasoning his BBQ in the back, but came out to see if I was enjoying his workmanship. I expressed how surprised I was that I could cut the brisket with a plastic knife. He mentioned that he was fortunate enough to receive a trophy for his cooking, and that he will be a contestant in the upcoming rodeo this March. Apparently, his participation is strictly to raise scholarship funds- which I find to be admirable. I tried the brisket with a side of mac & cheese along with a serving of beans. The brisket was so moist & tender. The food was perfectly seasoned. I didn't have to add anything. The beer was nice and cold. I very much enjoyed my meal. I paid less than $20 for a complete meal with a cold beer. I very much enjoyed all of the food & I am anxious to see where this family operation goes. They definitely have the potential to became a larger operation. I highly recommend visiting if your in the south Austin, Del Valley area. See you there... Enjoy 😉

I got to try this place once from my coworker as having brisket cold and the flavors were amazing and still tender. As I went to the place today to finally try more it is a bit hard to find this place But with a quick turn into the parking lot The food truck is behind the restaurant. As most hidden gems are I got 2 pounds of brisket with with a pound of ribs, Both of these meats as greasy as they were but so tender Also grabbing any part of this meat from the brisket to the ribs fall apart. Is this seasoning strong hints of Hickory and mosquite with some pepper, The barbecue sauce definitely gave sweet baby rays vibes. Overall wonderful customer service as we call the head to place the order And to my surprise a huge loaf of bread was included with this meal. Bit pricey but for good Barbecue it's always worth spending an extra for good quality.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best BBQ in Austin! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Henry's BBQ, and it truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best barbecue spots in Austin! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly staff who made me feel right at home.I decided to try their brisket and ribs, and I was blown away by the flavors. The brisket was incredibly tender and juicy, with just the right amount of smoke. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone good, seasoned perfectly, and had a delightful crust. I also loved their classic sides like coleslaw and baked beans, which complemented the meats beautifully. The atmosphere at Henry's BBQ is casual and inviting, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family. The food truck setup adds to the charm, and there's plenty of seating outside to enjoy the Texas weather. If you're in the Austin area, don’t miss out on Henry's BBQ! It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves...
