This is a great place if you're into Southern comfort food and large portions. I prefer the Sunday brunch buffet. The staff is very friendly!
We went here for dinner (because plans to go to another place changed) and I personally found it difficult to pick something out that I liked and didn't look too heavy. We started with apps, and those were pretty good. The fried green tomatoes and the peppers and garlic on toasted bread were good. Then I had the pork chop, my Mom ordered the ribs because the Mac and cheese was too spicy for her, and my sister ordered the rainbow trout. I would have liked my pork more tender and it was too much. The ribs were too hot for my Mom to pick up because of the cast iron plate. And my sister didn't seem to enjoy the taste of the fish.
We returned the next day for brunch with the rest of the family including my sister's kids (we had planned this before going for dinner the night before). Brunch is $25 per person and under 5 is free. They had a lot of options like fruit, yoghurt, tortilla soup, eggs, waffles, sausage, grits, etc. I enjoyed most of the options except for the soup (I just can't pass up tortilla soup if it's on offer). I much preferred the breakfast items to dinner the night before. We also ordered a flight of breakfast cocktails, but we weren't really a fan.
My Mom was disappointed that the Downtown location's brunch that she remembers is better and has more options than this location. But I get that the experience isn't going to be exactly the same.
I'd recommend this place for the brunch and would go back. I think my niece and nephew enjoyed the brunch items. My nephew was covered in watermelon juice by the end and my niece liked the fruit, yoghurt,...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I chose this place for a date night to celebrate my birthday, and I'm thrilled to say that the experience not only met but exceeded our high expectations, living up to its stellar rating.
Upon arrival, the hospitality was immediate and impressive. The host team greeted us warmly and graciously accommodated my request for a booth, setting the tone for a wonderful evening.
Our server, Bobby, demonstrated exceptional service. He skillfully balanced attentiveness with giving us space, allowing us time to settle in while providing a delightful snack of freshly popped popcorn.
As a fan of fried green tomatoes, I was excited to see them on the menu and they did not disappoint. What truly enhanced the dining experience was Bobby's willingness to accommodate my specific dish modifications. His understanding and effort in ensuring my meal was prepared exactly to my liking made my birthday celebration even more special.
My boyfriend's adventurous palate led him to try the venison Salisbury steak, which was well-prepared, though just not the dish for him. However, the blackened catfish he ordered next was a standout. The dish, with its melt-in-your-mouth catfish and a creamy, pecan-laden crawfish sauce is a must try. The grits, served as a side, struck the perfect balance of spice and flavor.
Bobby's extensive knowledge of the menu and his descriptive guidance were invaluable in curating our culinary journey, ensuring an unparalleled dining experience.
In summary, our visit was nothing short of remarkable. The combination of attentive service, exquisite cuisine, and a warm ambiance made my birthday celebration truly unforgettable. We are already looking forward to...
Read moreFor the love of God and all that is holy...get to this place! There is nothing bad and only good, you will not be disappointed! Just a cut above.
I don't even know where to start. Drinks? Get you some of those! They have a bourbon slush that will change your life. Just trust. Also, they have flavored moonshine shots. Think dessert shot. The apple pie and banana pudding ones are fabulous. They are very different. The banana pudding one is sweet and hand to God, tastes JUST like banana pudding. It was soooo good. The apple pie is fantastic also, but it is not sweet. It tastes like apple pie, but without being sweet.
I think we've tried all the appetizers. You can't pick a bad one. That said, our favorite is the fried green tomatoes. The cathead biscuits are a repeat item for us as well.
If you're going for lunch, the backyard chicken sandwich is a good option.
My personal favorite is the creole shrimp and grits. Transcendent! Perfection on a plate. I will say, I wish it was served with a cathead biscuit instead of a baguette, that's my only complaint.
We've also tried the center-cut pork chop, the chicken fried steak, and green chile macaroni. The chicken fried steak is not to be missed!
I will say that while I love a good dessert, I will happily skip them here. Sorry. We've tried the chocolate espresso brownie, peanut butter mousse pie, and the red velvet cake...just get your shot of moonshine after dinner instead.
The service is the best and we have been told that the brunch on the weekend is fabulous. We've not tried it yet, but I'm sure it's as special as the rest of the menu.
Moonshine is a favorite in our family. Go visit and make it your new...
