Parmer Lane Tavern — Restaurant in Austin

Right off Parmer you can find a good, cheap place to sit down and grab a beer, play cards, or even some slots. Parmer Lane Tavern is a solid bar boasting cheap drink specials including $3 beers and shots on Tuesdays. It’s very accessible since it’s just off Parmer and there’s plenty of parking out front. It was clean and the service is friendly which for some bars is a premium.

One thing that stands out is there’s more to do than most bars here in terms of activities. As mentioned before, there’s a poker table and slot machines but they also have darts and pool as well. Definitely a spot you can kill a few hours at without realizing. They also have a good amount of TVs so catching a game here doesn’t seem like it should be much of an issue. Between that and the cheap drinks there is more than enough entertainment to go around. One thing to be aware of is that they don’t have beer on tap (bottles only) and they don’t have any food to serve. They did mention you can bring in outside food or order it to the bar but just being able to order something small can be nice sometimes.

I was speaking to the "manager" about my daughter who has a rare vascular disorder (CVM). I told her we travel to Colorado every 6 weeks for treatment. As I was about to ask her if she would like to join other local bars with a bake sale benifit such as the growler, cele, lstar bar, an many more...she told me told me in a rude nasty voice " can't help ya" and hung up on me. She didn't even let me finish. She went from nice and sweet to devil in .5 seconds A simple no would have been just fine. My daughter has a serious life long painful disorder that can lead to disfigurement and or death. Our family has already been through a lot especially my 8 year old baby girl that has been battling thus since she was 4. This is not easy. Just wanted to let everyone know how ugly and rude she was to a mother trying to get her daughters story out. Again a simple no would have been just fine. As the previous poker dealer for over 10 years, I have finally a perfect way to describe this bar. Antique. Where the woman gets automatically the upper hand, even when you ask the bar staff for help. They delay until you have an issue, then kick you out as well. A veteran. On memorial day weekend. Without so much as an apology. I will never support this pathetic excuse of a bar again. My biggest regret is trying to be friends with Anthony and Danny, only to get stabbed in the back.
