There is a total baller running this kitchen and they deserve all the awards for food deliciousness. For me, a takeout meal from Se7en Spice has authenticity and sophistication and does not feel Americanized at all. (Admittedly I’m not particularly qualified to judge the authenticity, but I do know tastiness, and I have eaten enough American Chinese food in my time to know that this is different.) Do yourself a favor and have a family-style meal so you can sample a bunch of the flavors. Tonight we tried the Eggplant w/ Basil for the first time and it wins the championship. The eggplant was perfectly mushy and infused with subtle basil flavor. Divine. We also tried Spicy Chicken and it was not my favorite because I was expecting it to be a mixture of chicken and vegetables, but it was just meat. Noted for the future. We had some cut vegetables at home we could add to round out the meal, so it worked out OK. Giant Pork Meatball of Awesomeness, listed simply as Braised Pork Meat Ball on the menu: visually and tastefully stunning. Steamed Dumplings: they come with this soy and vinegar dipping sauce that is right on point. All in all, if you’re looking for balanced flavors and visually delightful food, way cheaper and easier than a trip to China, this place has got...
Read moreThe food experience at Seven Spice was AMAZING to say the least!
ORDER: small wonton soup, egg rolls, spicy orange chicken, spicy beef and broccoli, and fried rice... all of which was delicious and fresh.
The wonton soup ingredients were all fresh.(you can tell by the brightness of the veggies and how delicious it tasted) and was a great way to start my experience... I ordered a small but it was a pretty big bowl which set the tone for the rest of the food which all came in large portions and all freshly made.
The chicken and beef were super tender and tasted perfect.... the egg rolls and fried rice were cherries on top and a tasty compliment to the entire meal!
There's not many places where the food is made to order and comes out fairly quick but Seven Spice serves it up fresh, hot, and quick without sacrificing one for the other. After 10 years in Austin, I can't believe I haven't been to this place before but it's officially my favorite Chinese food spot.
Great service, amazing food, huge portions, and low prices, what's not to like!? I highly recommend...
Read moreSome of the best Chinese food in Austin. Bright dining area. Came here with family members to try it out.
Had my favorite vegetable, snow pea leaves. Cooked perfectly with a bit of crunch in it.
Very much enjoyed the Shanghai fried rice cakes. Good snack.
Sautéed egg plants were pretty good. Reminded me that eggplants tend to be mushy. I like it a bit more fried.
Jinsha Prawns are probably my favorite dish here. Kind of like Walnut Shrimp at other restaurants but a salty instead of sweet flavor. Definitely recommending this one.
Loved munching on the fried pork intestines. I typically prefer them not so fried for more flavor but these were a good crunch.
Beef in Chili Oil was interesting. Not as spicy as It looks, more of a bumbling flavor. Beef was soft and good.
For soup we had the Chinese Yam with Chicken Soup. Kind of tasted like coconut soup but overall a warm pleasant feeling.
Would come again, good for sharing plates with...
