We regularly go to another Roadhouse. Today we were at doctor's appointments in Austin and were craving a yummy steak, since we hadn't been to our normal Roadhouse in awhile.
Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted in a friendly manner, so we had high hopes for this location, however, we were WRONG!
Carlos was our waiter. He seemed shy & nervous. We ordered 2 appetizers .....the snake bites and a cactus blossom. The appetizers seemed just "ok". The grease needed to be replaced, as our cactus blossom was burned and tasted "scorched".
We ordered 2 meals, both were the Ft Worth Ribeyes....which is what we always get.....I had a house salad and a sweet potato with brown sugar and butter, no marshmallows & my husband had the house salad and steak fries.
Our salads barely filled the bowls. There was no shredded cheese like we usually get on them. The grape tomatoes, on our salads, were slightly bigger than pea sized, and my salad had approximately 4 croutons, the size of raisins on it, my husband also had 4 tiny croutons on his salad as well.
The small plates that we were supposed to put our rolls on, were dirty, as was my entree fork. We never got an opportunity to request any clean small plates, or a clean fork.....keep reading to find out why..... this story gets better....or worse? Who knows.....anyway,
The snake bites were spicy and so I drank alot of my tea. I waited for Carlos to return to our table for over 20 minutes to get a refill, however, at this point my mouth was on fire, so I went in search of a tea refill myself.
Another person delivered our entrees to our table and that person quickly left. Normally we are asked to cut into our steaks to make certain they are cooked correctly, but not at this location. We both ordered "medium well" steaks, and both of our steaks were rare, and bloody. Mooooooo!
We still continued searching for Carlos as we wanted napkins, tea refills, a clean fork....perhaps some clean plates???? however, the only time we saw Carlos again, was when we had asked for a manager, and Carlos came by our table long enough for the manager, Amara, to tell him to bring my husband fresh fries, as his were cold and burned.
The manager Amara, fixed one issue for us, but quickly left the table before we could have her address any other issues we were having today. She did not apologize to us, she did not ask if there were any other issues, either.
Carlos returned at the end of our "meal" to bring us unsweetened tea (we both had sweet tea initially) he also handed us our bill, and informed us to pay on the table kiosk, unless we were paying with cash, as he had another table "to get to."
Our bill was $82. We are normally very good tippers, my husband is far more gracious than I would have been, as he left atleast a 15% tip, (I wouldn't have even left that much!) My husband said he did that only because they did bring different fries, that still were burned, but atleast they were somewhat "warmer."
Sadly, we left hungry and extremely disappointed because the food was subpar at best and inedible. The manager was rude and dismissive, the server was absent and dismissive. I asked another waiter, who was passing by our table if he could get the manager for us, initially.. his name was Cole...he too was also rude and dismissive.
I had read other reviews before we went to this location, and I can assure you the bad ones are correct!
I've never been to a Texas Roadhouse that had a less than flavorful steak, until today.
Go to ANY OTHER location besides this one, if you don't want to waste your money, or your time!
I am so disappointed! Unsure how this location is still open!
I have only a few regrets in life, in fact, I have only 2 as of today. The first being that I chose to eat at this location today, the 2nd being I will never ever be able to get back the 20 minutes of my life that typing this review took from me! Please excuse me folks, I think I need to...
Read moreMy partner and I visited Texas Roadhouse for the first time tonight after an evening out, and it was absolutely worth it! :)
Our server, Maddy, was fabulous, so sweet, friendly, and attentive. She took the time to explain the menu, checked in often, and really made our first visit a great experience. Huge props to her for doing such an amazing job! ✨
Let’s talk about those rolls.. soft, warm, and downright addictive. The cinnamon butter was perfectly sweet and creamy, honestly, I could’ve just eaten a basket of those rolls and been happy.
For our appetizer, we ordered the Cactus Blossom, which was delicious and crispy but massive, definitely enough for four or more people! The Cajun dipping sauce that came with it had a great tangy flavor that paired perfectly with the onion.
My partner got a full rack of ribs, and wow, they were tender, flavorful, and fell right off the bone. He only managed to eat half because the portion was so generous. His sides were steak fries and buttered corn, and I tried the corn, it was buttery, seasoned just right, and really tasty. 😋
I ordered the Portobello Mushroom Chicken with sautéed onions, extra melted cheese, and extra mushrooms. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked, and the mushrooms added such a rich flavor. I’m a mushroom lover, so that dish was right up my alley. My sides were mac and cheese and a Caesar salad, both of which were excellent. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, and the salad was fresh, crisp, and generously dressed.
All of our food came out piping hot and surprisingly fast, even though the restaurant was busy for a Tuesday evening. The staff worked efficiently, the tables were spotless, and even the bathrooms were super clean.
The only downside was that we had ordered a to go appetizer and by the time we got home, we had unpacked everything and realized that we had not received our to go order. Our server right before we left, brought over our extra rolls to go and a bag. We had thought that inside the bag was the to go appetizer. I usually always check my bags before leaving a restaurant or picking up a order and I unfortunately did not this time because we were tired and ready to head home. Unfortunately we live over a hour away from this restaurant and called them when we realized we did not receive our to go order.
Inika (I apologize if I spelled it wrong) the general manager was very sweet and professional when I called about this issue. She was very apologetic and understanding. It honestly was no biggie at all but she helped us recieve a voucher for that missing item to them use at this restaurant in the future. We were unable to do a refund directly to the card we paid with because we were not able to give card details over the phone.
Overall, our first experience at this Texas Roadhouse was fantastic. Great food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere, we’ll definitely be...
Read moreSecond time we come here and have a bad experience. We wanted to give it one more shot after the first time when we waited for over an hour for our food. They were closing when they brought our food out and we felt rushed to get out of there. This time around we came in at 6:00pm we all made our orders. Waiter came back saying the 16oz prime rib was sold out but there was 2 12 oz left so we took them then they come back saying there’s actually only one we said we’d take it. then the food comes out 😫 everyone but my husbands food comes out. Our kids are hungry they start eating and I’m waiting for my husbands food which takes them over 10 minutes to just come tell us that his order wasn’t made because the steak was actually sold to someone else! Food should be brought out together. We’re a family that’s trying to have a meal TOGETHER. Our whole dinner was ruined. Manager comes out and says she gonna charge the appetizer and my youngest meal and half of my oldest sons meal that was OVERCOOKED because he took a few bites it wasn’t half but literally a few bites. We don’t care about the money because we are ready to pay for what we eat and we’re generous tippers too it was the principle that the manager lacked. She made sure to remove my plate I’m assuming so I wouldn’t take a bite of the cold food that was sitting there for at that point 20 minutes. I then was even more frustrated and told her I didn’t even want to pay 1/2 for the overcooked steak that had a few bites in it and the manager (Maggie or Maddie) offers a $30 dollar meal on the house! My husband asks why she can’t just deduct the $30 from our already ruined dinner she had no answer other than I already gave you a discount and didn’t charge you for the meal. What meal the one they never brought out or the cold one that was sitting on the table?! We passed on the $30 meal on the house because why would we come back after the terrible service we’ve had. Not worth coming here even for free. If I were a manger I would have apologized and charged just the appetizer and one meal that was eaten and then offered the $30 meal on the house. This manager was not thinking of the Texas roadhouse customers and it’s business but her ego in terms of “you’re not getting this for free” location was at 13435 U.S. 183 Bldg. 7, SVRD NB,...
