ThunderCloud Subs — Restaurant in Austin

This location always seems to be pretty good. Usually pretty quick and friendly. The Riverside location was one of the worst experiences though. Go to this one over that one. Ha ha. Edit: I would maybe take a star off but I’ll just keep it because the people are usually friendly and the sandwiches aren’t bad- the problem I’ve had is, calling in they’ll tell you 15-20 minutes, but when you’re waiting in the parking lot, people are coming and leaving just ordering at the counter. I call in because usually it takes priority and is faster, and it was one single sandwich. Was definitely surprised. I might as well just never call in. I thought about just going in and ordering the same thing as my to-go order and then saying to just cancel my phone-order. Just doesn’t make sense. So, if you come, just don’t think that ordering on the phone will be faster. It may take 8x longer than just ordering one single sandwich inside. I get being busy, but, people coming in and ordering are getting it in two minutes vs calling in and having a 15 minute wait. I dunno. Not bad food though....

Everyone working is always super nice. But the last 3x I’ve gotten a sandwich there something is always missing from it. Which is just a bummer. Since the guest can’t see you assembling I think it wouldn’t hurt to review everything on the sandwich’s before calling it. Also I have noticed they’ve dwindled on their ingredients a bit. Thunder sauce was put on my sandwich without asking which I had actually planned on asking for it on the side because it keeps making the sandwich really soggy lately (I’m only driving 5 minutes and the bread is mush by the time I get home). There was no lettuce on my sandwich today - which was super disappointing. I also added peppers and there were only 3 on the whole sandwich - which I just would have not added for .35 if I wasn’t going to get them. Also barely any olives on it, which is a step up from last time when they forget them altogether. Bread wasn’t dry today so that was a plus. Good subs, reliable and fast. However… about half the time, the bread is stale!

I’ve been ordering from this location for a while now, have probably ordered about 30 subs between myself and friends. I really dig the food here, NY Italian and the Austin Club are my favorites. I also feel good knowing that I get to support a local business instead of some mega Corp.

My one gripe is this: It doesn’t matter if we get white bread or wheat, the bread is stale about half the time.

What’s going on Thunder Cloud? I’ll pay more for the sub if it’ll get you to stock fresh bread. I almost always get my order to go so don’t have the time to drive back, complain and get a new sub. I know y’all would make it right but makes no sense to me that you keep serving stale bread to customers.

So please, do something about the stale bread!
