Came here on a Friday evening to treat myself after the week. This place is lovely, and the location is quite convenient - right off 290. The service is awesome! The complimentary chips came out warm, which is super nice. I also ordered a small guac, which tastes awesome! It's creamy and refreshing with the right amount of tartness. I tried the uno starter plate, and the poppers are so good! Very flavorful, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The el pastor tacos are ok, although I'd say the seasoning is a little too much to my taste. I also got the puffy tacos, but these aren't very good. I love the idea of frying a puffy tortilla, but unfortunately, the fillings are not compatible. I ordered one beef and one chicken. The beef filling essentially is cooked minced beef with typical taco meat seasoning but over-salted. The chicken taco, on the other hand, is way too bland. It tastes like a chicken breast boiled, pulled, and stuffed into the taco pocket. The seasoning of the meats, however, is not the biggest problem. The worst part is that the meat juices also got put into the taco. That completely dissolves the bottom of the crispy outside (a soggy bottom if you watch the British bakeoff). I couldn't even hold it in my hand when taking a bite. It just fully collapsed. Overall, I liked the starters and guac, but the puffy tacos certainly need some improvement.

My husband and I visited Tres Amigos Restaurant and Cantina on a Saturday around 2pm. We were immediately greeted and seated, and there was no wait. Our server brought us chips and salsa right away. The salsa was very spicy/hot due to the drought and jalapenos being very strong. I couldn't eat it, but my husband enjoyed it. I ordered the queso especial, which is chile con queso combined with ground beef, pico de gallo, and fresh guacamole. The portion seemed a bit small, but it was good. My husband ordered the nuevo leon, which is a beef enchilada with chili sauce, a puffy beef taco, rice, and a puffy taco shell covered with chile con queso. I opted to get my order as a starter because my husband's meal had one of the puffy tacos served as an appetizer. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Tres Amigos. The food was decent, the service was good, and the atmosphere was typical of a Mexican restaurant. Would I return? Maybe. There's plenty of other Mexican restaurants around and we don't live in Austin, so I would probably try another place.

We won't be back. Despite the friendly staff and manager, it just wasn't to par. The best thing we had was the cookie on the kid's ice cream dessert. My chalupas compuesta didn't come as i ordered it. Add beef, guacamole on the side. The cheese was Monterrey Jack, which wasn't bad but it was unexpected. I asked why it looked like milk, it was put through the oven to melt it but that only made the tortilla taste like burned oil. Then it was so soggy that I couldn't pick up the chalupa. I Had to eat With a fork and i couldn't eat the rest anyway. My husband ordered the puffy beef tacos, they taste good but the shells were so stiff, they looked more like puffy chalupas! Haha! Still good to eat though. My son loved the tamale and rice on the kid's menu. The cookie on top of the ice cream was so good we ordered a doz separately! The margaritas were good and strong. The booth was nestled up against a wall with a time framed window with tiles missing. Tacky!

Awful, just awful experience this evening. I have never had such terrible service before. We arrived at about 715. Our waiter completely ignored us, walked by our empty drinks several times, and then stood there discussing his new tattoo with the person seated directly behind us. He literally watched my wife pour some of her water into my glass yet still ignored us. We asked the hostess to move us to the other side of the restaurant, and she was amazing and accommodated us. Our "server" seemed to finally notice us once we were leaving his section and then began to follow us over in an intimidating manner until the hostess literally had to stop him and send him away. He stood and stared and I guess flexed for a bit before he stomped off to the kitchen.

Once we were moved, it didn't improve much. We were ignored again, seemingly forgotten about and I guess irritated the staff due to our desire to be treated properly. The hostess (I forget her name) was again, amazing. She received little to no support from her peers or management for that matter. Finally, at around 840 we were about to just leave when our kids' food came out. It was stone cold and had obviously been sitting out for quite some time.

That was it for us. I paid for our drinks and we left. No word of apology from anyone but the hostess. No offer or attempt to get us to stay. No concern whatsoever. This used to be one of our favorites, but I doing we will ever be going back. Kudos again to the hostess.. she at least attempted to turn an abysmal situation into something better, all while continuing to do her job and in spite of the total lack of concern or support from the rest...

Well it's was Friday night, it's been our go to phone order fast pick up gig close to our home ! Never been had any issues with food until March 16 2018 ! I could really get into a discussion on how our situation could of gone better for a better understandable common courtesy! The situation was ordered a flauta plate and and some sopapillas to go ! Pick up on time as was said the order would be ready in 20 minutes ! When I arrived at home went open my flauta order and found this big brown leggy mosquito so obvious tucked under the white cheese ! I was upset- decided to return flautas cause my girlfriend wasn't feeling having them remake the order ! I requested my money back and they felt they needed to charge me for the sopapillas since I didn't return them ! I didn't want to argue I figured I just make a complaint considering they should of had the courtesy to say I'm sorry we didn't catch that! The Manager Maurisia Rodriguez never apologize and charged for the dessert ! I should of charged her for the time I wasted going back and made a scene for bugs in the food ! Long story short the manager has poor decision making skills and hope next time they deal with bad situation s like these better so customers can at least feel satisfied so they keep coming back ! She lucky it wasn't my girlfriend the roof would f been on fire ! Maurizia Rodriguez I hope you get bugs on you food on your next Mexican restaurant visit and they charge you for it...
