My friend and I wanted to try this place because we pass by it often whenever we drive around. When we got there, it took the bartender a while to get to us. The bar wasn’t too packed, but it still felt like it took a good 5-10 minutes to get to us. After taking our order, we waited. And waited. And waited. We waited for almost an hour before our food was given to us. We weren’t given any updates on our food as it was being made and the bartenders seemed to be more interested in chatting than with service. We were on the verge of asking for our money back and leaving, but since the food arrived, we figured we can stay to eat. The burger I ordered tasted burnt on the edges (which I personally like) and the chili dog had some spice to it. Overall, the food tasted good, but was not unique. I do, however, want to admit that the space itself is very down to earth and relaxed. If I ever come back, I’ll probably only order a drink or two at most. Great atmosphere, decent food, but substandard service. Doubtful I’ll come back, but it was at least...
Read moreWent there a few days ago. Instead of Fritos on the hotdog I got jalepenos on it. It didn’t even come with cheese. And the burger was less than mediocre. Was told water is self serve at the door from the jug. They have no black tea they said. Later I noticed a pitcher of ice cold ware and black tea at the counter lol. The bathroom- disgusting. Without too much detail on that, I want to say whatever it is, mold buildup on and around the faucet knobs- how difficult would it be for them to clean sometimes? Apparently that is not important to that establishment. 20.00 for a cheeseburger, chili dog (pork) and a drink, not the 12.00 as promised on their sign at the bar. Bartender also touched top of sipping straw when he put it into the glass, not sure what that was about. I ended up taking it out- figured if the beer glass is good enough for others to drink directly from,...
Read moreMost of the worthwhile bars seem to be on the far east side of the city now and this was one of the first. Great dodgey spot with food and drinks that are very affordable by current Austin standards. Service is friendly yet a curt enough to reinforce what sort of place it is (in case the motel rooms by the hour next door and trailer park out back were not enough). Outdoor seating area in the back features a pool table and ample seating if it is crowded inside. Bring a dog but it might encounter a neighborhood cat briefly. If your kid is a 20 something slacker bring them otherwise...
