Shorebreak Pizza Grille — Restaurant in Avalon

Do they make a 6th star? Shorebreak deserves it. Where do I start? Service is top notch from the first person you see, to the waiter/waitress, to the folks that bus the tables, to the person at the register! Even the chefs and people in the kitchen are awesome if you duck your head into the back and say hello! Abby was our server, and I think we've had her serve us before. Friendly and patient and pays attention to every detail. You can ask for a bucket with ice for you BYOBs, but they also serve soft drinks and juices. The menu is full of stuff, with little redundancy, and everything is made how it should be. I mean just bc chicken nuggets and fries are both made in the fryer, they don't necessarily get cooked in the same manner. We ate tuna nachos and ahi tuna appetizers and I couldn't believe how a) well cooked the tuna is, or b) the utterly beautiful fish that we got served. As a special I had a blackened burger and it was as juicy as it could be without soaking the bun, and becoming a mess. Less is so much more when it comes to needing napkins. Pizzas are outstanding and even the side salads are crispy and full of life. A million years ago, this was a great hoagie and deli place called BJ's, I believe, and the BJ's folks would be proud of the kind of place Shorebreak is. If there is a wait to get seated and eat, do yourself a favor and gladly wait. Also, do not pass on the rice and beans...they're delicious! Thank you, Shorebreak, we can't wait to be back!!

I went to Shorebreak on a Friday evening for dinner. It was fairly crowded. I ordered the Shrimp Wrap for 9 dollars.

I liked: The wrap tasted pretty good. There's not much to like beyond that.

I didn't like: To start, the wrap was said to include "Grilled Shrimp, Avacado, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Garlic Aioli" I got cold steamed shrimp without avacado- they were good on the other stuff. The wrap (pictured) was about the size of a McDonalds snackwrap and came with bottom-of-the-bag Sunchips which in my opinion was not justified by the price tag. Our food (both cold sandwiches) took far too long to come out, roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Our waitress was below par as far as serviceability goes. We didn't get our plate settings till long after we were seated and already had drinks.

We happened upon this place and decided to give it a try. Wow, we were not disappointed! Natalie, our waitress was friendly and helpful and the food was awesome! I’d highly recommend the bacon wrapped scallops (you only get 2, but they’re huge) and the fish tacos. Make sure you get the side of rice and beans with your tacos as the black beans (as doctored up by the chef) were the best I’ve ever tasted. There are many selections to chose from on the menu, and it was hard to chose just one! In addition to seating inside and out front, they also have seating out back that is quiet, secluded and under an awning.
