Son of a Sailor Seafood — Restaurant in Avalon

Best seafood joint I've had the pleasure of dining at, in this area. Food: tasty, fresh, and good serving sizes. Other places tend to overcompensate for mediocre quality by overseasoning food and salting it heavily. At Son of. Sailor, however, the flavor of the fresh seafood comes first! The flounder, scallops, shrimp, and clams I had were all super fresh and were perfectly seasoned. The scallops, especially, had such a nice sweet, mellow, savory flavor.

Service: staff were friendly and were able to give me suggestions on what to get! Had to wait a little bit for the food but the food I got was well worth it.

The price was decent, especially for the area.

Service was efficient and pretty fast (45 min) for a Sat night in peak season. Fish and chips were really good. The steamed clams, though really fresh, were really sandy with a lot of sediment, so just be aware. Linguine is very overcooked which really impacted flavor. Corn was also really over cooked! While I love the concept and want to support this company, they should try to raise the quality of preparation for the price….seafood is fresh but the preparation is poor for some key dishes. When the original restaurant we had planned to eat at was far too crowded, we ended up at Son of a Sailor Seafood because of their high google star rating. And wow are we glad we did! We enjoyed it immensely - the shrimp cocktail was beautifully simple, it was fresh and delicious! The Crab Bites were outstanding: the batter and meat were amazing, and their signature sauce added the perfect touch. We enjoyed the open seating patio.
