China Star — Restaurant in Avon Lake

I have loved this restaurant for a couple of years now, but it seems that they are taking a turn for the worse as times passes. The General's chicken used to be succulent and delicious with the best sauce around. The sauce is still good, but now the chicken is very hard and crunchy sometimes. I say sometimes because this isn't usually the case when I pick up something for lunch. I believe the cook is double frying the chicken to cut costs and this is reflected in the food. I now try not to order my favorite because its too risky. If they would just go back to preparing the food fresh and tossing out older food (instead of trying to recycle it and hiding it under awesome sauce), Id eat there more often. I guess I'll be going back...

When they answered the phone I said, "I just left there, .....why, why, why would you look at this and still serve it, knowing it was overcooked?

Unbelievable!! I ordered Egg Foo Young with Fried Rice. To my surprise, the patties were as black as tar and, the rice had a greasy look!

The owner asked me to "come back so we can see it"! I informed her with the snow and slick roads, I had no desire to show her this slop nor, patronize this business again. Her reply was "Ok".

Food is decent and the place seems very clean but the wait times and prices are absolutely outrageous (they have had these high prices even before the virus outbreak). I've had to wait upwards of an hour for my food before and a simple combination plate will cost you about $10. Also twice now I've had one of their cheap sauce cups bust and then leak sauce over everything in the bag. This is especially annoying since an extra cup of sauce costs $2.
