The best new business in Avon Park! Possibly the best in Highland County.
The location is handy and it's easy to get to. We were able to park in front of the store.
The choices of ice cream made it easy to find something you like, but just a little difficult to pick between. Chocolate vs. fruit? Dairy vs. non-dairy? Regular (sugar) vs. NSA, No Sugar Added? The right answer is to come back again!
Single or double or triple? Waffle? Milk shake or Malt? (If you're like my grandchildren you may ask, "What's a Malt?" My answer is that it's a way to make ice cream sweeter!)
My wife was delighted and satisfied with a single scoop. In a cup.
But for me, after taste testing, I went for the best deal in the house. A Malt. Which size? A no brainer. The 16 oz delight. (Okay, the only reason I didn't rate APIC with 100 stars is that for people like me who try to limit their calories, 16 oz is the only size offered.)
Which flavor? Let's just say that you can't go wrong and I think there are enough flavors to have a different one each day for a month.
But my bragging is just beginning. You may like your milkshakes runny. Drink them with a thin straw. More milky.
I like my malts thick. Real thick. Save your straw. Give me two long handled spoons; one for a spare. The thickness test is to turn it upside down and don't loose a drop. APIC Company sets the standard.
But one last test. Is the malt mixture completely blended throughout and no "clumps" can be found, especially at the bottom? You betcha. Miss Casey passed the test of perfection. And I'm sure McKinsey would have done as well.

ย ย ย Read moreWhat you want to know first, yes they have great BBQ. But why Iโm taking the time to write this review is because you can tell the owner really cares and wants to create the best experience possible. I enjoyed the pulled pork and it was moist without being greasy, which I find a lot of other places get wrong. The side items were elevated above traditional fare. The baked beans instead of the usual overly sweet beans, were a well balanced mixture of three different bean types. The potato salad contained coarse ground brown mustard. Little touches that most other bbq joints donโt make the effort in an attempt to save time or money. But what I was most impressed with is how the owner/manager spoke to the employees. Confirming when they need to get off. Asking if they need anything. Asking if the customers were happy. Did they tip well? Do you think they will come back? I noticed a sign in the employees area that reads โtake care of the customer or someone else willโ. Not just idle words for this...
ย ย ย Read moreI love trying new places, and was super excited when I saw on Facebook that we were getting a new BBQ restaurant. They opened Friday, but we went today. The staff is friendly, the decor was cute and I love the photos and banners on the wall. We asked to try all 3 of the sauces w/ our meal. I was looking at the menu for a super sampler type meal and found the #10 B 52 Bomber which included 2 spare ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, a sausage link and 3 sides as well as your choice of bread: texas toast, bun or cornbread. We chose texas toast, and our sides were BBQ pit beans, loaded potato salad and the French fry trilogy. And the desserts sounded amazing, and since they didn't have the oreo fluff, I tried the chocolate banana pudding. We spent $28.33 for everything, and we enjoyed it all, and still have leftovers. I cannot tell you how satisfying the chocolate banana...
