I rarely do 5 stars all around but this place definitely deserves it!
My wife and I recently came by for some breakfast and a change in scenery for our study session, since we live in Lafayette and I believe this is the closest location from us. We were well greeted and felt welcomed to be there.
Food: 5 stars
Ordered a cinnamon roll (warmed) and a coffee cake (warmed), which were perfect for breakfast! For our drinks: I had the White Water Rafter and wifey had a Turtle Mocha. I usually ask for non-dairy milk, I forgot that time but I’ll make sure to include that detail next time. Besides my own shortcoming, everything was perfect!
Service: 5 stars
It seemed like they were training someone, but that didn’t matter much because they still performed well in the service department. The lady was very polite and asked correct questions when catering to my order. We haven’t ordered food inside before, so I was surprised with the service when I was handed our food on a plate with forks.
Atmosphere: 5 stars
We have visited the inside before and the interior definitely gives off a cabin feel! They have plenty space for seating and lots of different options. They sell merchandise, which I didn’t know until we came inside. If you plan to do work or get studies in yourself, they have free WiFi!
You don’t have to take my word for it, but it was worth...
Read moreI'm not usually one to post this kind of review, especially because I do visit here around once a week, but the following has happened again and again and I'm sick of it.
If you're going to change your hours at least post them on the speaker and not just on the window. Normally just the window is probably sufficient if, for example, YOUR OPEN SIGN IS OFF, which was not the case this morning. Cue me, sitting at the speaker at 6:20, staring at the flashing open sign for 5 minutes and even so much as going up to the window and, upon seeing the posted Labor Day hours, knocking just to let you know your open sign is on- and still being ignored. Quickly ruined my morning.
EDIT in response to reply: I'm aware of that, however Labor Day is just another day to me in terms of routine and I didn't think about it until I was pulling in. I know yall usually change your hours but since I was there I thought I'd swing through and check and because, again, your Open sign was on and there was no indication of changed hours on your menu/speaker, I had no reason to believe that was in fact the case. 2nd edit: I'm a reasonable person and I'm in no way trying to scorched earth taking-my-business-elswhere rant, all I'm asking is that you modify whatever policies you have for changing your hours so it doesn't feel like I'm getting bait and switched at 6am on a...
Read moreI have been meaning to try this place since they first opened awhile back. A word of warning to new patrons: The hype may not live up to expectations.
I ordered a Turtle Mocha through the drive thru. It was about 3-5 minutes at the window, which is expected for a craft mocha. In terms of quality the coffee was average: Nothing spectacular, while also not horrible tasting.
The size of the drink was 12 ounces (slightly less, but around there), which is sort of where I’m arriving at my 3 star rating; $5.62 (after tax) for a 12 ounce, average tasting, mocha drink is a bit pricey and not worth it for me.
To put it in perspective, a tall (12 ounce) Starbucks Cocoa Cloud Macchiato costs $4.85 after tax, about $0.80 cheaper than the Turtle Mocha. For $0.30 more ($5.95) you can get a 20 ounce size. I am all for supporting local businesses, but I am not sure if this is a franchise of Cabin Coffee or a corporate location, either of which could apply to a Starbucks.
Perhaps there are more options on the menu that are more worth it, but this was sort of a let down after noticing all the positive reviews and attention this location...
