Hotcakes Emporium Pancake House & Restaurant — Restaurant in Indiana

Wow we are extremely disappointed. This restaurant needs some major changes. I don’t even know where to begin.

The food quality is awful. The patty melt tasted worse than what is served in high school cafeterias. Burger quality worse than McDonald’s patties. And there was awful kraft single on top. The French fries tasted old as if they had been dropped in the fryer a second time to save them. The grits are very watery. The pancakes were too dry to eat. The peaches on the pancakes are cheap from a can. The Oreo pancakes had old stale Oreos crumbled on top and were covered in generic tasting chocolate syrup. The wait staff needs some work. Our waitress reached over across our table multiple times and we felt as if she was hovering over our food. She also touched things on our table more than necessary. There needs to be a more strict dress code because many of the servers looked very unkept. Some with hair hanging loose out of their pony tails. We had to wait a long time for our food. I understand a slight wait when the restaurant is busy, but the wait was excessive. The restaurant was not very clean and the bathrooms were very dirty. The bathroom faucets are covered in crust and grime and the trash cans overflowing with trash.

Overall very disappointed and sad. I wish there had been more accurate reviews because I see a lot of great reviews and we wouldn’t have came here if we had known how poor the quality of this...

Went in this morning for breakfast with my family. Our food was delicious and our server was good. The reason I’m giving one star review is we ordered two pancakes and an order of grits to go. We waited forty minutes for them after we were done eating and paying. We were literally sitting there in our coats, ready to go, for at least thirty minutes….. It was literally two pancakes and an order of grits. At a breakfast restaurant that’s fully staffed. This was our favorite breakfast place but that’s unacceptable or understandable. Our waitress was rude and barely spoke one word to us. Did not ask what we wanted to drink, just set 2 waters on the table and expected us to order right there. When we did order, she didn't ask us what we wanted just stood there staring at us. I had to be told by the kitchen staff that they were out of what I wanted. Go to pay and the chip reader is down and almost bent our debit card trying to shove the chip in. Tried to tell us that a bank card is not accepted. Will not be returning.
