This place is overwhelming… in a good way.
When you walk in, you’re introduced to a slew of things covering wall to wall of Knick Knacks, Trinkets, coffee/tea tools, collectibles, and products.
In the left corner literally at the entrance, you can occasionally bump into the coffee Roastmaster tending to the roaster. He wasn’t present at the time during my visit, but many have told me that he is someone you’d want to meet to get an idea of how their whole system works.
My understanding of the process: Coffee beans are roasted daily with different varieties. There’s actually a chart of the available single origin and blends on board in the rear right side of the shop. Take your time, there’s a lot of options.
At the front counter, you will see across the top many flavorings that you’ve an add to your coffee, followed by a Daily special on a small white board on the right side.
You cannot choose among the many blends to brew if you’re interested in ordering a drink of a particular blend, however you can sample the daily special upon request.
I didn’t check this part, but you can actually make your way to the back of the shop where the antiques are displayed and you can sit in one of the tables to enjoy your drink.
If you’re going to visit, I highly suggest you at least buy a bag of beans, (preferably whole bean in my opinion). Nothing else in town (as far as I’m aware) can get as fresh of coffee beans as buying one that was probably roasted a few hours ago. As an espresso enjoyer, the freshest is best albeit you might need to wait a week to let the beans off-gas a bit (they’re quite bitter if too much CO2).
As a side note, there is a subscription service you can opt-in where you can get coffee picked up or mailed periodically, and it’s surprisingly a really good deal.
Overall, it’s my new favorite place even though I’ve only been there twice. It’s not often I get a roastries this conveniently close to home, and I’ve lived along the entire east coast for...
Read moreAlright all; this is a brand new update for my FAVORITE coffee place here in Hartford County, CT... The Coffee Trade! Now heads up; much of what I am saying is still the same BECAUSE you have the same owners who STILL believe in putting their customers first, so I just want to ask everyone; since things are still a bit crazy these days; isn't it a huge comfort to know that the one place you know you could go; that one place that offers calm, friendliness, great service and a fantastic cup of coffee to top it all off, is always going to be around? Well thankfully it seems it will! I actually have a family member who asks me from time to time; why I don't buy my coffee beans from a store like Costco, and I chuckle every time. Who wants to buy pre-packaged, limited flavors and lesser qualities of beans when you HAVE a place like The Coffee Trade?
The Coffee Trade is the best for a reason; they put us the customers first; they treat us with respect, friendliness, good service and care; they have a TON of flavors available, so they just cannot be beaten!! They were not voted "The Best Coffee In Hartford Seven Years In A Row!" by CTNow for nothing!! Thank God they are here... It makes this whole crazy world scare just that much easier to bear with!! Thank-you Coffee Trade! Thank you for being a place where I have TRULY enjoyed for the 8 years and counting that I've been living in...
