Walked in and while nicely set up the floor was filthy under the booths. Upon seating we were promptly greeted by a waitress and given a bowl of saltine crackers and a container of cheese spread. This was the same stuff you get in those cracker/pretzel snack packets. Not too appetizing.
My wife ordered the roast beef and cheese club and I had the chili burger. Her club was ok with thick cuts of roast beef. The fries that came with it though were barely crisp and lacked any flavor. My chili burger could possibly have been the worst thing I ever ate. It was simply an overcooked patty (not fresh) on a bun with canned restaurant supply (Hormel?) chili slopped over the top. I ordered mine with onion rings and like my wife's fries were under cooked, the onions were still crunchy in the middle.
I will say the only good point was the wait staff. They were very pleasant and quick.
This stop gets a lot of foot traffic and has good reviews. I'm not sure what went wrong with our meals but I don't anticipate ever giving it a second chance...
Read moreIf you enjoy a cozy atmosphere where you will more than likely know someone there, this is the place! This was one of my late dads favorite places to eat. Tinys is a family owned business. One on side, they have booths and also a large counter with swivel chairs. That's where you sit for breakfast or overfill. The other side is all tables and chairs. Cozy, just private enough to hear the people with you. The staff is fantastic. The specials of the day are on a whiteboard as you enter. If you can't find something you like with the abundance of choices from these restaurants, I don't know what to say! Appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks, everything you can imagine! So we ordered a BLT on Rye with fries and a bunless fish sandwich with onion rings. We also had the seafood Chowder, which is delicious! Go see Paula and the girls for a delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner! You won't be disappointed! Affordable, delicious...
Read moreNice Diner in Ayer. Ate lunch here while having some work done on my car by a shop nearby. Plenty of seating, there’s an addition on the back that makes it not so tiny. This is good, because even on a Tuesday at lunchtime it was pretty busy.
The menu is extensive. I ordered the chili dog with fries and a water. Had a hunch the portion size would be big, and it was! Hard to find the dog since it was buried in (obviously made in house) chili. Just the right amount of cheese melted on top too.
It was a very tasty meal. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is, well, it’s a diner. Spotlessly clean, a little rustic, but well kept. It got a little loud when it got busy, but that’s to be expected.
Prices are very reasonable, I got out for $11 including tax and tip.
I would eat here again if I was in the area, and I think you should too. These little, quality family restaurants deserve...
