The 4 things I will address before I post my review.

The person taking my order was BLAH!!! 😑 If this was my place I would go out of my way to have a beautiful Middle Eastern 20/30 year old working the register. Not only would it change the food ordering mood. It would give a feminine touch to the front end.

Second, GET RID OF THE WALLS WITH FAKE GRASS OR WEEDS.I can see dust dust and more dust in it. It’s not needed and unattractive. No walls in any restaurant should have grass or any type of plant.

Third, the chick peas were so/so. Hate to say it but almost taste directly from a can. Not like a real kabob place taste.

Forth and finally- WHY ALL THE GREASE??? When you cook any steak on a flat top or grill DO NOT add oil, grease or whatever. The steak, even lean cuts will give you just the right amount of natural fat to cook. As you can see from the plate, the sandwich was coated in it. The steak and cheese was great tasting but the oil/grease not needed. No on with my official review

Imagine stepping into a unique and eclectic restaurant where culinary worlds collide. This one-of-a-kind establishment offers a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes.

As you walk in, you're greeted by a vibrant atmosphere filled with a mix of decor from different cultures. The walls are adorned with colorful artwork, and the music playing in the background combines various genres, creating a lively ambiance.

The menu is a true reflection of the restaurant's eclecticism. You can start with classic American burgers, made with juicy beef patties, fresh vegetables, and a variety of creative toppings. If you're feeling adventurous, you can opt for a fusion burger, combining flavors from around the world. Picture a Thai-inspired burger with peanut sauce and spicy slaw or a Mexican burger with guacamole and jalapeños.

If you're in the mood for something hearty, explore the sub section of the menu. Choose from a selection of freshly baked bread stuffed with a diverse range of fillings. There are Italian subs loaded with salami, ham, and provolone, alongside Afghan subs featuring tender kebabs, fragrant rice, and flavorful chutneys.

But what sets this restaurant apart is its Afghan cuisine. You can savor dishes like aromatic lamb kebabs, fluffy saffron-infused rice, and mouthwatering aushak dumplings filled with herbs and spices, all served with a side of warm naan bread. The flavors are rich and authentic, offering a taste of Afghanistan that's hard to find elsewhere.

Whether you're in the mood for a classic burger, a hearty sub, or a taste of Afghan cuisine, this eclectic restaurant has something for everyone. It's a place where culinary boundaries are pushed, and where you can embark on a gastronomic journey that spans the globe, all within the confines of a single,...

This place was recommended by my optometrist’s team who are Afghani and all I can say is…WOW! We love to try new things and support local businesses so they can continue to give us eclectic dining options in the DMV. The food here was simply delicious! I had a bad experience with lamb at an Indian restaurant in London, UK over 10 years ago and never ate lamb again until this past weekend. I ordered the chicken/lamb kabob combo with brown rice. All the meats were so tender you could cut them with a dull butter knife. The chicken had a slight charring on the outside edges giving it a subtle crisp texture around the edges as you bite into it to reveal the flavorful, juicy tenderness inside. As for the lamb, I now know what a properly prepared lamb kabob is supposed to taste like which, to me, had a texture in between chicken and beef and tasted like a medium-cooked filet sprinkled with traditional Afghani spices. Add their Afghani brown rice to the mix, which was more like fried rice and not like traditional brown rice I expected (the kind you get at the grocery store instead of traditional white asian rice because you are pretending to be healthy), and I was having a hard time controlling my portions to make sure I saved room for the famous traditional ice cream dessert (Sheeryakh) that was also recommended. Thankfully, I doggy-bagged my main dish and was able to enjoy a tiny mountain of ice cream in a bowl of sweet cream topped with crunchy pistachio bits and my sweet tooth is now forever-addicted! Definitely will be adding this spot to our...

Awful service, but delicious food. Two employees saw me enter for lunch, but neither greeted or assisted me, just continued to clean things. After a bit of waiting I walked around until I found a menu on the counter, then I was told to sit wherever. I sat down and was told to pick another table, and that they'd take my order soon. One person came by and he said I wasn't ready (I thought maybe he misspoke if English was his second language), so I said I was ready, then he shook his head no and walked away. I waited so long I was about to leave, then he came back and took my order. He wouldn't look me in the eye and seemed very annoyed I was there, but was all smiles and laughs and conversations with the pretty young lady at another table. The food was pricey, but was enough for two or three people, and was absolutely mouth watering! I asked for a box and was told I could eat more as he gestured up and down with his hand out. I didn't say anything, he brought out a box, and left it on the table. He then boxed up the food for the other two tables. I asked for the check and gave my card, and I was given a final receipt with no place for a tip. I asked if I could buy something else so I could leave a tip, and the guy said no. I told him I didn't bring cash, and he said to please go and to rate 5 stars. It was the first time he made eye contact or smiled at me the whole time. I asked if they are a new restaurant, he said yes and they just recently opened. I see they have reviews from three years ago on here. Food was amazing, but these guys need...

This is hands down the BEST Afghan restaurant in all of Northern Virginia. Let alone the best Kabob restaurant. The minute you walk into this establishment, you are greeted so warmly with the welcoming, contemporary ambiance. Very ample amounts of seating, very clean, and organized. All staff are extremely caring and accommodating of one's needs throughout the entirety of their dining experience. As someone with Afghan heritage but born and raised in America, this place feels like home. The flavors of each dish are incredibly authentic, and you can tell the chef takes his time. Believe me, I had him come to my table so I could thank him personally and let him know that his cooking is just like my grandmothers-- and I never had Afghan food from a restaurant that comes close to hers. The sheer yakh (Afghan pulled ice cream) was to die for. This is the only place in Virginia (perhaps the whole East coast-- with the exception of New York) where you can get made-to-order sheer yakh. I've only had sheer yakh in California, and it still doesn't come close to this. Everyone must come here whether you are of Afghan heritage or not. This truly is a cuisine that shouldn't be gatekept and it's something everyone can enjoy. You can also book a tea party experience with Afghan green tea and a variety of pastries. This is a very new concept that I am glad the diaspora is doing. Finally a unique and fun dining experience, and not your average Afghan kabob spot. Love it!

I’m having a hard time coming up with the words to describe this place, maybe I can blame that on being stuck in the house during the pandemic for so long that I’ve forgotten how nice it feels to eat out like this. Krave Eatery is exactly the kind of place that I’ve been waiting for and believe me, you won’t be disappointed. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is the open layout, modern designs, and this fresh feel that you only get from a place that knows what they’re doing. I felt like I was sitting in a trendy public art gallery from way that the decor and the ambiance sets the scene, so the fact that the food is great is just even more incredible to me. Being Afghan myself, I was inclined to lean towards the Afghan dishes that were offered, though they do offer several dishes that would satisfy a variety of palates. The filet mignon kabob tasted exactly the way I dreamed it would; The kabob was cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly, and plated to impress. The side dishes, like the eggplant and French fries, almost stole the show, but the lamb chops were the winner for me. Nestled right in Alexandria, Krave Eatery is a place I plan to frequent as often as possible going forward and I’m thoroughly excited to have a fresh new restaurant to impress my family and friends with.
