The Chicken Place — Restaurant in Bailey's Crossroads

After reading the good reviews I decided to order the 1/4 Charbroiled Chicken with a side of yuca. It already came wit a side house salad. Sadly, they were using Doordash. I will explain why that is a problem with me later in the review. Anyway they promised to deliver the order in about 40 minutes but only took about 20, which is good. The entree was serviced hot and was good tasting. All good. I even enjoyed the fried yuca and, to be honest, I am not sure I have ever had yuca before. Even the salad was good. But while the one star missing? Doordash has a habit of adding to the menu price. I once ordered from a Korean chicken place and they turned a $15 dish into $20. They were not as greedy with The Chicken Place. They just turned a $7.50 entree into a $8.29. That's not bad, right? But add on the delivery fee, taxes, and tip and that's still being greedy. From now on I am not ordering from any place that uses Doordash. And if I am in the area I WILL likely try out The Chicken Place again. But not ordering deliver from them again. If you plan to dine-in think of this as a five star review. There is NOTHING wrong with the food. But if ordering delivery think twice and check out the real prices on the menu. I have been going to this place for years but today is the last time. It doesn't pay to be willing to speak Spanish and this is why: I asked for half a chicken which is "medio" and paid $11.17 including a drink. When I made it home I noticed they only gave me a quarter. I called and asked how much is for half and the woman said $10.17. I drove back and they were ready for me and accused me of lying. One asked for the receipt while the other pulled the transaction on her digital register...and who is lying? I wanted to eat and complied to pay the extra 2 dollars then said you know you are wasting my time and the woman said in Spanish "that's your problem." This is one of the reasons why I sympathize with non foreign speaking people because if foreign restaurants treat their own kind, can only imagine how bad it is for non foreign...

I been coming to the Chicken Place for well over 10 years and the chicken is still as good as my first visit. The rice is my favorite side item but the others are delicious as well. The steak and chicken sandwich/sub is very satisfying and highly recommend. I am not to keen on their desert but their fountain drinks are tasty. My last visit was to purchase a meal for my 82 year old cousin since i was in the area and just wanted to get him a dinner, he utterly loved the chicken dinner said it was his first time eating latin food.
