It had huge potential. Made reservation. Drove 45 minutes to get there. Never been before. We frequent vineyards so know a bit... But first they said we had to be out by 3pm.. Giving us an hour because they were busy. Wine list didn't give you an idea it's sweet or dry. Expensive. Tracy was on the rude side because she was busy... when it came to choosing wines for your wine flite. She was good for the gluten free items to get to eat but clearly she does not have time for us. She would walk away mid sentence. Not around when we want to order a glass. Though in general service was good by the kitchen. Food was good. They had live music, which we love and it was great music but SO loud where were were sitting... We couldn't talk without yelling. Even then couldn't hear each other. Couldn't even see the river where they sat us. Nothing romantic about the situation they put us in. I really wanted to love the place but the way things went... Our seating... Tracy not being interested in us... And the wine, not great. She was so impatient she wasn't about to discuss anything to help me decide the 6 I wanted in my flite. I felt hurried to choose. This was more stressful than relaxing in the beginning. Probably not going back. But if you hit it right and things go your way.. and Tracy's. Then you will probably give it 5 stars. Also they didn't seem to have any medium sweet wines... went from dry to SWEET. I'm more somewhere in the middle there. Overall feeling..Meh. there are lots of other places to go where you can actually relax and enjoy, and they...
Read moreGreat wine, awful mosquitos. We came here on June 28th at 6:30 pm and had a reservation for the cabanas along the water which was beautiful, but we had no idea there would be hundreds of mosquitos. We really wished the venue offered bug repellent because it was INTENSE. Our experience was completely distracted because we were constantly killing mosquitos every chance we got. Our table of 4 walked away with 24 bites. The girl a few tables down from us even had to stand away from her own table (the cabanas are $20 to reserve) because her arms were swelling up, which we could all see from far away.
The wine was delicious and the view was beautiful, but this review is to warn and prepare other guests that there are an alarming amount of mosquitos at the cabanas. This review is also here to request that Aspen Peak Cellars provide bug repellent for their guests.
You could argue that “we should have known” there’d be mosquitos because we were by the water, but really — who would imagine there would be such an extreme amount, especially at a restaurant where you even have to pay extra to sit by the water.
The wine was great (the sparkling rose, fusion red blend, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah were my favorites), the cheese board was diverse and delicious, and the cabana view was truly beautiful. I also liked that they offered a non-alcoholic sparkling wine that was sweet and tasty. But the mosquitos and lack of effort by the venue to do something about them were...
Read moreWhat a perfect place to enjoy a Sunday evening. We called to make reservations on the patio and were sat immediately upon arrival. There was live music adding to the ambiance. (Their patio is very pet friendly is you’d like to bring a furry friend.) Our server took amazing care of us during our visit.
We got 2 wine flights and a bottle of wine. All the wine was delicious, but the Pomegranate Rouge and Strawberry Rose were our top 2!
We ordered a charcuterie board to start and thankfully they offer gluten free bread so our whole group could enjoy. The board was large and delicious, although some sort of jam or honey would’ve really tied it together. There was phenomenal cheese, meat, and heat- but no sweet. (This didn’t stop us from enjoying and demolish the board!)
We were able to get dinner (service starts at 5pm) and they had some delicious options! We got a steak with chimichurri and the duck breast with rosemary bordelaise. Both were to die for! The entrees came with veggies and potatoes, but we were allowed to substitute a salad each for the salad of the day (caesar). We spent about $50 a person (split 3 ways); which was more than worth it for the experience.
We left feeling full, happy, and ready for our next trip back!
(There was an abundance of gluten free-options for anyone with...
