El Patron Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Nice, clean little restaurant, and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate, however, it left much to be desired. The food was pretty pricey in comparison to many of the same restaurants with nothing warranting the hike in price. Our meals looked fine but there was a definite lack of seasoning and flavor. Everything was very bland. The beans, rice, chips and salsa were good however and were the highlight of the meal. My biggest complaint was the price of the childrens meals. $9.99 for a frozen corn dog with fries. This did not include a drink. That was another 3.99. that was a little insane for me to wrap my head around paying $30 for my two littles to eat a quesadilla with rice/beans and corn dog with fries. Wife got a kamikaze that she described as all sugar for $10.

Food is good and service has always been good, prices are a little high which I dont mind for good food, but man the AC in this place is horrible. I'm the last 4 visits the is was all muggy in there. Makes it hard to have an appetite when its hot in there. I always ask and I've gotten several excuses. Once was the AC is down and they are working on it. The other was sorry it just turned on (got that exucse twice). Just recently I went there again, walked in and was immediately disappointed again with the AC, so I just walked back out. The prices were way too high (~$20 for a Chimichanga?). Ceiling was discolored insulation. Food took a while to come and server did not offer to replace chips and salsa. Margarita never showed up before the food. No silverware before the food, so I had to stare at my food for a few minutes waiting. Daughter got kid's nachos which was literally the free chips with melted cheese - that's it: $8:20. Literally go anywhere else for dinner. Even if my dinner was good, it was overshadowed by how bad...
