I had dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak tonight (22 Dec @5:30). I'm a Gordon Ramsay fan, and really wanted to see was "right" looked like.
My overall impression was "lackluster".
The resturant itself is nice, clean with dim lighting and very atmospheric. My only complaint was that the music was too loud. It's supposed to add to the ambiance, not overwhelm it. I could barely hear my server over the music...and they could barely hear me as I had to repeat myself a few times.
To start off, the service was great. I was greeted and sat promptly at my reservation time. My server was quick and attentive. My food came out as scheduled, hot and ready. I was there for about 90 mins, and wasnt rushed or hurried in any kind of way. Everyone was kind and helpful.
My only feedback on the service is about drink refills. It's pretty much industry standard that the drink shouldn't get below half full, and another should just be brought out, the server really doesn't even need to ask. You can't go wrong. But twice my drink went empty. First she asked if I wanted a refill, the second time I had to ask for it. It's just a Pepsi, the cheapest thing on their menu; that should be flowing freely.
The food....this is where "lackluster" comes in. I was thoroughly unimpressed...especially at these prices.
The total damage was $280 before the tip
I ordered the Lobster Risotto, 12 oz Delmonico Amercian/Wagyu steak, shrimp, scallops, brussel sprouts, loaded baked potato, and chocolate pot de creme dessert.
The only thing I actually enjoyed was the sides. Its kinda sad when someone enjoys brussel sprouts more than a steak.....at a steakhouse.
The lobster risotto was pretty great. Not anything to knock your socks off, but still enjoyable.
I ordered the scallops and shrimp with the steak. I asked about the size of the scallops, because I was worried it would be too much. There were just the right size, seared, but again under seasoned.
I really should have asked about the size of the shrimp, because they were enormous. One shrimp was about he size if the lobster tail in the risotto. That was impressive. I would have been impressed, but again, underseasoned and underwhelming.
The steak was disappointing. Keep in mind this is a $99 cut of beef, and it was bland. I ordered it medium, but it came out cooked at three different temperatures. I honestly think the kitchen forgot to fire up one of their burners, and only half the steak got cooked at one time. The left side of the steak was well done (no pink), the middle of the steak was medium well (thin strip of pink) the right side was medium (warm pink center). I mean, my steak, when cut down the middle, could have been the example chart to point to, for people who dont know what temperature to order. I'm not sure how they did that, but it was outputting. Additionally it really seemed underseasoned. For being over cooked, there wasnt even any kind of sear. Again, not sure how that happens. I honestly think they have an issue with their grill/stove top.
Again, I did enjoy the sides, but at $15 each, it may not be worth it. The brussel sprouts were great. I'm not sure how they were prepared, I believe they were roasted, with pomegranates, very tasty.
The loaded baked potato was great, the gouda bechamel was creamy and flavorful. The large chunks of bacon was a bit distracting to have to chew through, but it was a good flavor for the dish.
For dessert I had the chocolate pot de creme dessert. It's a fine dessert, very elegant, light, and airy. It wont feed that chocolate craving you may have. It was good, but I think I should have gotten the Sticky Toffee pudding.
I finished the night and left a $100 tip for the wait staff, since they were great and it's the holiday season to be more generous.
Overall: 3 stars.
Honestly, I'd recommend the steak resturant "Prime Rib" at the Arundel Mills Live Casino over this place. The Prime Rib is just as elegant, slightly cheaper, and a thousand times...

We had dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Baltimore in the Spring of 2022 and the food was amazing. We had beef wellington and scallops along with an appetizer, side, and the sticky toffee desert. The food was amazing, and we were glad we made reservations, because the restaurant was full. Our waiter was friendly and the service was top notch. We asked how often Chef Ramsay came, and our waiter said that Chef Ramsay came for the grand opening and again when he did one of his TV shows in Ellicott City, MD, but we were told that Chef Christina – who won season 10 on Hell’s Kitchen and became a manager for North America - came once a month to check on food consistency, service, etc.
Fast forward to April 2025. We made reservations, and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. We did not realize that this was a bad omen. Our server was friendly and provided great service. We ordered scallops and he came back a few minutes after to say that the kitchen was out of scallops. What? Baltimore is a hub for seafood, and we were surprised that a restaurant on the Chesapeake Bay would run out of scallops. Plus, the Maryland seafood distribution center is only 10 or so miles away in neighboring Jessup, MD (we shop there at the one outlet open to the public) so why did the restaurant not have scallops? So, we ordered sea bass as a substitute.
We asked our waiter if Chef Christina was still coming to this restaurant monthly, and he said that have a chef from the Gordon Ramsay company come once a year. While we had a tasty starter with the steak tartar, the sea bass arrived and it was thin and smothered in a coconut curry sauce; it had a very fishy taste, so we sent it back. The potato puree arrived and had no seasoning, so we asked for some salt and pepper as it was very bland. The biscuits served were dry as if they had been under a hot lamp for a few hours. The $56 sea bass entre (6 ounces) tasted old. The waiter removed the sea bass from our bill. When we paid, we talked to manager and told him that the food was not very good compared to the last time. The manager said that he could not understand how the sea bass tasted fishy since they had gotten it a week ago. A week ago!? Then the light bulb went off in my head: frozen sea bass and frozen potato puree. It all made sense: Gordon Ramsay is selling frozen microwave dinners at Walmart, and he’s apparently stocking his restaurant chains with frozen food items too, ready for Chef Mike aka Chef Microwave. That’s why the sea bass was smothered in a curry sauce to hide the frozen-reheated taste.
I told the manager that I was going to write a review, and he gave me his business card and said he would “comp” the next meal. He refunded most of our meal which I give him great credit for; you can see he's trying at least. But I’ll pass on comped frozen food. What a disappointment: I’ve come to expect more from the Gordon Ramsay brand, but apparently he’s too focused on his TV shows to oversee quality control at his...
Read moreWe had come to this Steakhouse when they first started and had a lovely time, but this experience was terrible and I would’ve been disappointed at an Applebee’s by the service we received, let alone a very expensive dining room.
First, we did not have masks. This was our fault obviously. But, we came from the county where they are not mandated and we’re dressed up with clutch purses for the occasion. We asked the hostess if she had any disposable masks because we had driven around the parking garage 3 times already looking for the valet and following the valet signs before we stopped to ask someone and they said they don’t do valet anymore (but didn’t remove the signs). The hostess, when asked for a disposable mask just said “No.” just like that - even though they’re only required for the 20 feet to the table. I explained our situation again and apologized for not having one handy and she told me I could “go to the liquor store down the street”. I told her I had been working with someone for a party of 12, which they made me pick a prefixed menu for and asked if that was all for nothing if we had to leave to go to a liquor store and she said “yes.” That’s it. We were able to ask people if they had any extras in the waiting room and people pulled extras out of their purse to help us. We were only 2 short for 12 people.
The decor is nice and the private room was nice.
The waiter was nice too.
When we got the Caesar salad, which I wasn’t a fan of anyway (they smoke the lettuce?? But not in a tasty way), my employee sitting next to me had a LITERAL LIVE BUG in her salad. A. Live. Bug. When we told the manager, she said she would talk to the general manager. Then she came back in (without the general manager) and said “oh it was just a leaf bug.” I’m not sure in what context that would have not been a big deal. They barely even batted an eye, let alone apologized.
The food was just OK. I admit that maybe my taste buds could have been thrown off by just having a bad experience overall. I got the wagu filet with lobster and both was good but not great. The Brussels sprouts were at least good.
The best part about the meal was the dessert - toffee pudding.
The general manager did come in at the end of the meal to ask us how things were but when I said they were just ok, she seemed to shrug it off. She did take the salad off for having a bug in it (a whole $16 off a $3400 check).
Plus, this whole ordeal (meal) took THREE HOURS. THREE HOURS. We weren’t even drinking. And they made us have a preset menu, but why?
I was very disappointed in general, not to mention for the amount of money that I spent for the evening.
I can’t imagine from what I’ve seen of Gordon Ramsay that he would be okay with this level of food or service. I gave them several opportunities to apologize or make up for the service. I don’t want things for free but they failed.
I won’t be back. Take your money somewhere else to get a fine...
