I am never disappointed when visiting Fratelli's authentic Italian restaurant, located in Barboursville WV, it is always a treat. My taste buds jump for joy with anticipation, the second I walk through the door and see that dessert display case filled with the best desserts I've tasted, by the end of the meal, my taste buds are in heaven and my stomach is sporting a happy face (I'm sure my stomach would be dancing a jig if it could). Fratelli's cuisine is always plated for beauty, the atmosphere is calming & warm (I just love the strings of hanging lights overhead), the servers are always friendly, attentive and fast. Fratelli's is a family owned and operated restaurant and you can tell, the owner always makes rounds through the dining room to make sure all is good- and believe me it is. The prices are in the middle range and reasonable for the quality of food you receive. I love the freshness of the food- it's like they just went out in the back garden and picked a basket of fresh produce just for my meal. I'm a tea lover, and the Lipton flavor of their fresh brewed tea just sets my taste buds off in the running position. The bread comes right with your drink and the dipping sauce is light and fresh. My last trip to Fratelli's I had the lunch Spaghetti with meat balls and a side salad. The spaghetti was just the right size, the server grates fresh cheese onto your plate at your table and it's hard to say ' enough ', one doesn't want to appear a cheese hog- or do I ? I do prefer more sauce on my spaghetti, but that's just my preference, the meatballs were large and very tasty. The salad was so crisp and fresh I could hear each piece as I forked it up, alas, it would have been perfect with my favorite raspberry vinaigrette dressing they do not carry (you really need to add that dressing to your menu Fratelli's- it is sweet and would go lovely with your strawberry salad- wink). Then, as if I wasn't stuffed enough, I pondered over the dessert menu the entire time I ate my lunch and that decadent, chocolate cheesecake called to me with its chocolate graham cracker crust, chocolate cheesecake and chocolate syrup- I was in need of a chocolate fix and this certainly satisfied my chocolate craving- I indulged. I don't know where one's taste buds go when they are already in heaven, but this put them over the top in la la land. Each bite was so creamy and smooth and the chocolate was simply devilishly divine. I recommend this restaurant with both arms in the air waving you in, 5 star...
Read moreWe made the drive to Barboursville tonight after being invited to enjoy dinner at the incredible Fratelli’s Italian Restaurant, located at 6007 US-60—and let me tell you, it was well worth the trip.
It had been a few years since our last visit, but somehow it’s even better than we remembered. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. Service was immediate—seated and greeted within moments—and the atmosphere felt intimate, inviting, and classically cozy, like an old-world trattoria with a modern polish.
I kicked things off with a glass of prosecco—crisp, bubbly, and exactly what I needed to unwind after a long day.
For starters, we shared the Breaded Cheese Rounds: thick, generous slices of mozzarella coated in panko and seasoned with Italian herbs and spices, fried to golden perfection. They were served piping hot, and the cheese pull? Insane. I wish I had a wider wingspan to fully show it off! 😂
My personal obsession, though, is the Cheese Fondue. If you’ve never had it here—go. It’s decadently rich, silky smooth, and full of depth. The kind of dish you plan your next visit around.
For entrées, we tried the Lobster & Shrimp Ravioli. The pasta was tender and stuffed with fresh seafood, and the sauce had a light citrus brightness that perfectly balanced the richness of the filling.
We also went with the Chicken Tortellini, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was cooked flawlessly—juicy on the inside with a satisfying crunch on the outside. The creamy sauce brought it all together beautifully.
Their fresh-baked bread and crisp house salads were spot-on, too—simple but done right.
Our server was phenomenal: friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Every recommendation hit the mark.
Don’t skip all their decadent housemade desserts, either. The cheesecake is so silky and rich.
Huge thanks to Carlos and the entire Ortiz family for the invitation—and for consistently bringing such amazing food, warm hospitality, and elevated dining experiences to the region.
Whether it’s Fratelli’s, Casa Grande, El Colonial, or Taco Brothers—every one of their restaurants reflects their passion for quality and community. If you haven’t visited lately,...
Read moreMy wedding party was today. I didn't splurge on a lot for it; the decorations were simple, but I wanted the food, drinks, music, and cake to be good. After seeing Fratelli's cakes at a bridal expo, and seeing their cakes on display at the restaurant, I decided to go with their baker, Anita.
It was the worst decision I have made throughout planning my entire event. While the cake tasted great, it looked so unprofessional, and comppletely unlike what I ordered. The icing looked like it had been piped by a child. It was so sloppy and uneven. Even my photographer and new mother in law commented that it looked like it had been done in a rush, by someone who had forgotten to bake it until the day of, despite the fact that we had been in contact for months. The layers were crooked and the flowers - which were cheap plastic FAKES - kept falling out. It looked nothing like what I had ordered. I was so disappointed and upset, because I really wanted the cake to stand out.
The baker must have known it was subpar because she saw me and left before we could speak or I could pay her the remaining balance. I finally got her on the phone after talking to her manager, and she seemed surprised that I didn't like the cake. It's not just that it looked nothing like what I ordered; it looked like an amateur had baked their first wedding cake.
I can't get this moment back, but I can recommend my friends and professional acquaintances to avoid Fratelli's bakery.
Brides, don't do it. It was so embarrassing to share that cake with everyone that I asked the photographer to not take pictures of it other than to capture us cutting our first piece, or...
