I never write reviews, but I canât hold my tongue on this one.
I am traveling here from out of town for work. Imagine my disappointment when I can honestly say that the best part of my meal was the bottle of water they gave me. To start, the service was horrible. Nobody greeted me. Nobody gave me a menu. I had to ask for it. The kid that I think was supposed to be a waiter (family maybe?) spent the whole time sitting in a chair on his cell phone leaving the woman in the back pulling double duty in the kitchen and serving tables. The poor couple sitting behind me got their appetizer salad after their first sushi roll and they half of their dishes were just forgotten. They were also full of complaints and made it known to the rest of the restaurant, and rightfully so.
Now to the food. First off, no liquor license so no hot sake. I understand that situation but it was a disappointment, and it only got worse, and worse, and worse from there. Portion sizes were inadequate except for the chicken tomato soup. That soup, I wish I hadnât ordered. It tasted like it was straight out of a can and was served way, way too hot, with a tiny spoon, and 3 sorry looking ritz crackers on the side. The sushi did not taste fresh although it was edible. Both rolls that I ordered had ground up fish inside. There were no actual pieces of fish, no texture like most places would make and both rolls were tiny. The fish laid on top of one of my rolls looked limp and did not taste fresh. Everything was just one-note and mushy. The sticky rice was hardly sticky and the rolls pretty much fell apart as I tried to eat them. I also ordered nigiri and was asked if I wanted my fish on rice. If you work at a sushi restaurant you should know the difference between nigiri and sashimi. The poor girl that sat down next to me wasnât even given a menu after I told them she needed one. Perhaps I just managed to experience the perfect storm, but everybody in the place had the pleasure of experiencing it with me.
If you want a better experience with sushi youâll find better, fresher tasting rolls at the supermarket, and theyâll probably have better service for you there too.
Rough review, yes, but I promise you that...
Read moreI honestly never post reviews but I really don't want people to waste their money. I ordered the pan fried pork gyoza and teriyaki chicken lunch. The gyoza was decent tasting but definitely not crispy enough for me. Also I don't think I've ever seen dumplings that small. Like miniature. Where do I start on the teriyaki? Extremely bland. The chicken had no kind of grill or char on it (a first). Usually the chicken is cut into strips. Mine was what looked like two small cutlets. The sauce was tasteless and watery. Although I think that was runoff from the thawed and heated frozen veggie side. I tried to jazz it up so I asked for pepper flakes and was told they did not have any. I asked for rice seasoning/flakes. I was told they didnt have any. I looked at the selection on the table to find only salt and pepper. No sashimi. No ginger. No sesami oil. No Furikake. I think you get my drift. Overall the staff was really nice but a very dissapointing experience. I could have made the dish better at home. The best part of my meal was the bottle of Lipton diet green tea with citrus I grabbed from the cooler. That is one of my low cal go to drinks and was pleasantly surprised they carried it. I would give the...
Read moreThe service and food was really good. I have eaten sushi many places throughout the United States and for West Virginia I was surprised that it was as good as it is. Places along the coast you expect to have great sushi and I've eaten sushi at other places in the state of West Virginia and I was very disappointed so this ranks pretty high for my pallet. I did not remember seeing a sushi bar as in the photos that I've seen here on this I'm not sure if Dave taken it out or I was just so excited to be eating sushi. The prices are a little high but the quality of the food was good. I guess the atmosphere was okay but it was for me to go food and proper service. A family-run business is always a beautiful thing to see. I do recommend this place for good sushi if you're in the...
