Monte Albán Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in West Virginia

For over a year, we dined at Monty Album every day, enjoying the fantastic food and the welcoming atmosphere created by the owner. We even bought gift certificates and recommended the restaurant to others. Unfortunately, we stopped visiting after one of our companions, who understands their language, overheard the gentleman with glasses up front making fun of us. After a few months away, we decided to give it another try tonight, but as soon as we walked in, he started laughing at us again and watched us leave, still laughing.

It’s disappointing and hurtful to be treated this way, especially when we’ve always been respectful and generous. While we love the food and appreciate the owner and other friendly staff. Monte Albán is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in the tri state. Their cooks put real love into the food and give you an amazing taste of Oaxacan style cuisine. Their menu offers a variety of common Mexican dishes, however I fully recommend taking a more adventurous approach when ordering and branch away from the typical burrito/enchilada/chimichanga plates. You won't be disappointed by their El Alambre, Steak Monte Albán, Huevos dishes and soups. Don't be afraid to spice up your meal with a side of chile torreados or request their special salsas. The staff are nothing short of amazing if you make it a point to get to know them. The server was attentive, make sure that we had our drinks and we got all our order. It's written authentic and I'm sure it is to a certain extent. I ordered the chile rellenos and it was mediocre. I have had better and I was just a little bit disappointed. The refried beans were Bland and the rice was okay. Looking at my others food that they ordered just seemed mediocre. Being in Huntington West Virginia I am not sure that people would be used to a more authentic flavor. Being from Indianapolis we have many small businesses that are run by Hispanics and the quality is just amazing.
