It is slow Monday evening, 2 customers at the bar and maybe total 15 customers at the tables. I must say, I was pretty happy that restaurant is not full and seems very relaxed and cozy. Food is very good especially Lobster soup. What ruined all “cozy and cute” experience is Service in this place!!!!! It is a real “Kafka” experience! Let’s start from beginning. If you look on dinner menu prices, ambiance of the restaurant and really good food, one would expect to dine on certain level. What was my surprise when I was directed to the host desk and found 10 years old boy being the host this evening! I did not realize that it is legal at Cape Code to hire children as a host in restaurant who serve dinner plate at 30$ price! He was doing it for another hour, so no excuse that he was helping busy parent. Then, I totally lost ambience when I saw servers running in all directions like mini tornadoes with angry looks on their faces. They seems being in hurry, answering fast question and disappearing in second. Wait, it is slowly Monday, the restaurant is pretty much empty and why you seems angry???? After long wait our waitress came and she also seems busy even taking orders she was looking behind us when answer the questions. Totally not normal. I ask her if main dish comes with salad or potatoes and she did not know and have to ask chef. She came back and say Chef said no. Totally weird but ok I can order extra side dish. And how I was surprised then my dish came and yes! the main dish includes salad on the same plate, no need to order extra veggies! So, I eat my late dinner in really weird atmosphere, and now I see women in kitchen apron taking order from new customers. Ok, let me translate it! It is Slowly Monday evening, 15 customers total, 4 waiters and you have to ask kitchen staff to help you taking orders because the work overwhelmed you!!! I started to think that maybe A) all waiters cook customers food the same time in the kitchen B) it is not restaurant but the sweat shop. So, my hubby ordered some really delicious salad and found that pepper was really hot!hot! To the point I saw him getting all red on the face and his nose started running like the river. I don’t know if this is elegant to add super spiced pepper in salad without warning but maybe mixing salad with boogers is common there. Hubby is no new to spicy staff so to get him red on the face to the point he has to leave the table is a big accomplishment. So, after the dinner I ask our waitress was kind of pepper is it and of course she did not know but she can ask chef. I don’t know, but I must say that this is the most weirdest restaurant I had ever been so far. Seems to me that in this restaurant something is going totally wrong. Child services or Immigration should...
Read moreI was hoping for a 4-5 star dining experience like several others here but sadly, not the case. My friend and I were on a girls trip and headed to the ghost tour. We chose the Tavern because it was close by , had a solid menu and history in this old city. I had the Lobster Bisque and Chicken Marsala and it was very good. My friend had the fried Shrimp platter with fries. Half-way thru our meal she found a object in her fries that definitely shouldn’t have been there. The server took the food back to the kitchen and after a few minutes explained to us that the object was a piece of sponge from cleaning the fryer that must have fallen off and then later end up in my friend’s meal. SPONGE?!?! 🤢 At that point we were done eating. They offered a new platter, dessert ECT but we could not bring ourselves to eat anything else. We never saw a manager who was willing to give a heartfelt apology or at the least comp the entire bill. I asked for the check and we left. Upon my way out from the restroom the server hailed me down to ask why I gave her a minimal tip. I explained that I tipped her on my food alone, not the entire bill or experience. I honestly felt like no tip was warranted and as she continued to chastise me on my tipping method I was just shocked at the audacity. Our bill was over $50 for a soda, a drink, a bowl of soup and my chicken marsala. If they plan to charge tourist prices then they better have amazing food and service. This place fell short in both of those areas. Sometimes offering “free” dessert just isn’t...
Read moreHave been to the Tuscan twice this week. First with a group of six women. We had the pre-fixe menu and we all enjoyed our meals. Food was great and our server, Daniella, was excellent. Efficient and very personable! The portions for the pre-fix menu are not skimpy. Full size! Tonight, my husband and I sat in the bar side and again had Daniella as our server. The place was pretty busy (Saturday evening) and our meals were fine. But!! The bartender is slow as molasses and not very friendly. We each had a drink before dinner and wanted a glass of wine WITH our meal. I watched the bartender as we waited 20 minutes for our wine. She was slow and extremely methodical, to the point where I finally went up to our server and told her to cancel the wine. We had finished our dinners. Not sure if the bartender is the owner's wife, as someone suggested. She could have apologized for the delay but did not. Nor did she offer a complementary glass. Daniella was very apologetic but we left soon after and it will be awhile before we go back. The servers are all running between the bar area and different dining rooms, which only adds to the chaos and inefficiency. Tuscan could be a fabulous restaurant if they get their act together and get an additional bartender or one with a pleasant demeanor who cares about providing memorable...
