Small, cozy restaurant on the bay side of Cape Cod. Offers a variety of menu options (something for everyone). Biggest complaint: they were understaffed & overbooked. Our reservation was for 6 pm for 7 people. What was supposed to be a fun family dinner to celebrate a 60th birthday, was anything but. We felt extremely rushed by the waitress, who would take a drink or appetizer order, disappear for 10-15 minutes (to serve other tables) then expect us to order when it was convenient for her.
Typically a party larger than 6 is allotted at least 2 hours…the waitress that served us was rude and was always in a hurry to get to another table. Within 90 minutes, we had a drink, appetizers, our dinner entrees and the bill. It felt more like a fast food restaurant instead of the family birthday celebration it was meant to be.
As soon as our dinner plates were cleared, she dropped off our check. No one even had a chance to think about dessert. During one of her trips PAST our table, she has the nerve to say we had to leave because they had another party coming in. My family & friends were shocked and I (as the hostess) was embarrassed. We had just spent almost $100/per person and were being rushed out because they don’t know how to properly schedule reservations for large parties.
We’ve been on the Cape for over 40 years and have never been treated so poorly. Not worth the trip...
Read moreI was walking to the market on Tuesday afternoon and saw a sign outside that said, ‘Bingo at 8 PM.’ I LOVE BINGO! I walked in at around 3 PM to ask a couple of questions and was immediately greeted by a friendly man at the bar (I later found out his name is George) who told me what I needed to know. We got there a little later than I would have liked (7:45), and the bar was full, and the high tops were taken. Upon walking in, George greeted me again and said, ‘Glad you could make it!’ I felt like family. George helped us get a couple of seats at the bar by letting us know who was settling up, and BINGO was a BLAST! Seriously, it was the most fun I’ve had in a while. The locals and visitors were full of fun and cheering each other on. How can such a small place hold such a special energy? This place is a little slice of heaven for me. My grandparents would come here at least once a week for the past 50 years. My parents now come here often. Now it’s my turn! Three generations of Cape Codders coming to a restaurant owned by the same family for three generations. Ps. They do Bingo on the first Tuesday of the month (next is August 6th, 2024). Pps. The moldy music for moldy people reviewer only leaves negative reviews, except for when he got a root canal- wouldn’t take his word for how this place really is. Come experience a home style meal with fresh food with...
Read moreIt saddens me to write this review because Dolphin is my local restaurant. I’ve been eating here for over 20 years, less frequently in the past 5 or so years, but of most recent it is obvious that something about the food at this restaurant has gone off the rails. Last night wasn’t an isolated case, it’s been this way the past 3 or 4 visits. My son’s roasted chicken looked like it came already cooked from a grocery store and the cranberry sauce definitely came from a can as evidenced by the shape and lines left by the can. My duck didn’t taste like duck at all. I’m sure it was duck but one wonders how long ago it ceased to be. The calamari was awful, part calamari and mostly fried bread crumbs with little taste. I think the clam chowder must have been good because the kids ate it, although the one that ate her entire bowl fell ill afterwards. This is not the Dolphin restaurant of old. As my daughter said after we got home, we should have gone to Whole Foods for dinner.
I’m afraid last night was my last visit. On the plus side, the service and atmosphere is...
