Bought chai tea and two cookies. I just wanted chai tea. Tea. Simple tea. I asked what kind of tea they have. I asked for the masala chai tea from the list of teas. First, it was difficult figuring out what was available for tea until a small sign was pointed out. What I got was a tea with milk in it. It was so full that when I held it, it spilled all over my hand and made a sticky, hot mess. Ouch! I brought it back after I had gotten to my vehicle and noticed that it looked like it wasn't plain tea. I asked if chai masala tea has milk in it. She said yes, it is latte. I felt like when you played that whispering game as a kid and what was originally said is different at the end...started off tea and ended up latte. I don't know how you get plain tea there, but thankfully, there was a trash receptacle, and I tossed it. I can not drink milk. No one asked if I wanted milk and sugar. I just wanted plain spiced tea. No one cared. At least at Starbucks, they replace it, and you get a coupon for one to get at a later date.
Coming in the side door to find out the ingredients of my tea, there was glare and not much room to open the door. I couldn't see that someone was standing at the end of the crowded, cramped counter. Fortunately, I opened the door slowly and didn't hit her. Not a good setup.
I had ordered a gluten-free cookie. It was supposed to be a cranberry oatmeal. I think it was sugar oatmeal cookie dough because it was fairly raw and waaay too sweet. I would say it was horrible. My husband got a chocolate chip cookie, and he said it was, eh. It was too expensive for a tea I couldn't drink, a raw cookie and an eh cookie. It was a waste of money.
I can not speak for the atmosphere since I took it out. The service was OK, but not welcoming and friendly. They were just doing a job that maybe they were not happy doing. The whole ordering and pick-up process was confusing. Someone taking the order should have explained that you wait at the end of the counter after ordering and your name is called. There isn't much room there at the end of the counter. And while waiting, I saw a sign behind napkins that I think explained that is where you pick up the items.
A side note to those who are allergic to fragrance. The bathroom had fragranced soap.
Very disappointing experience. I always think that what I go and pay for something is that it is going to be better than what I can make, but this was not the case. Tonight, I am going to make some awesome gluten-free cookies. Gluten-free CAN...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe sweetest service ever! Exactly what you want in a neighborhood coffee shop. Atmosphere, too ā cozy but bright windows (lovely benches outside but no tables), good music but not too distracting for readers/workers, friendly vibes all around.
The scone I had (scone of the day was raspberry) was literally the BEST SCONE I HAVE EVER HAD. I donāt say that lightly or with exaggeration. We all have our scone preferences and for me this was the platonic ideal: moist but not too fluffy, tender but not crumbly, perfectly balanced fruit to biscuit ratio, not too sweet but with a delightful crunch of coarse sugar on top. It was impossible to resist eating the whole thing in one sitting. It was clearly baked fresh that morning and made with fresh berries, not dried. I ordered it on the recommendation of the baristas, who enthusiastically said āour scones are to die for.ā They were not kidding.
I also had a cold brew which could have been stronger, to be honest. And the portobello panini which was tasty and satisfying (it was a vegan panini but I added Swiss cheese to it...
Read moreHere, you will find yourself in a truly quaint little café nestled within the heart of the historic downtown district of Barnstable. Nirvana Coffee Co. offers a variety of delicious treats, including vegan and gluten-free baked goods, for those sourcing these options. As well as plenty of lattes/coffee drinks to choose from. The counter staff are friendly and happy to make beverage suggestions, shall you feel indecisive in regards to what to order. My spouse and I ordered a pistachio and Mayan Moka latte. We immensely enjoyed our coffee experience here. The tone really sets the calmness of ambiance here. Time drifted by us while sitting at the counter tables in front of the window facing the outside to the picturistic courthouse. We ended up chatting with friendly locals seated next to us and were whisked away in good conversation to what felt like simpler times. This cafe is a true gem on the Cape not...
