Yankee Doodle — Restaurant in Barrington Township

I went here recently on a Friday evening. I wanted to go somewhere where I could have a drink or two, relax, and listen to some good tunes. After looking places up in the area that potentially fit the bill, this place was highly rated, so I decided to check it out. I was glad I did. I sat at the bar and was served by Pete. He was attentive without being overbearing, which I really appreciated. I challenged him to make me a couple of classic cocktails, one of which was an old fashioned, and he clearly knew his stuff, as both were excellent. What I really found interesting and unique about the place was the selection of music, which was all over the place, but in a good way. The music plays from the jukebox, so any one can choose what song plays next, so apparently most people there have great taste in music (at least that night they did). Songs that I consider to be "deep cuts" were playing, so it was refreshing to not have to hear the same mainstream music over and over again. AWFUL. 6 of us walked in here at 3pm on a Saturday. Only 1 other customer at the bar. Bartender gave us a dirty look as we walked in. He acted like we were making his life harder because we ordered beer on tap. No food, just beer. He didn’t even have to open the bottles, just pull the tap. He rolled his eyes for each of us as we ordered a beer. He was super unfriendly and unwelcoming. Great place to go, Especially if Dannette is bartending, She's the Best ! Always has a Bright & Bubbly, glass 1/2 Full, attitude. Can make a hi-hum day turn into the Brighter side of Life.

Bit of a hidden gem. Just off Main St & 59. Next to Metra train station. Not too fancy but convenient and lots of locals stop in So good flavor there & flow of conversation.

What stands out most is the bartender Danette. She's a good reminder of what's genuine in Hospitality. Not to mention her approach to service is above & beyond expectations.
