Wednesday July 27th, my wife informed me that she would like to eat dinner at Sterling’s. It was approximately 7:00pm and I was still trying to get as much work done as I could. I called Sterling’s. When a gentleman answered, I asked him what time would they be closing today? He responded “we close at 8:30 sir”. I finished up a few things, of course a few issues came up, and we headed to Sterling’s. We walked in at approximately 8:10pm. There was not anyone at the hostess stand. After a few minutes, I looked around the corner into the dining room. I was immediately able to see 4 tables with several guests at each table seemingly enjoying their dinner along with a server. Also, I was able to see a large group in the area almost directly behind the hostess stand over the guard rail. They too seemed to be enjoying their dinner along with the service they were getting from a different server. At that time, the server taking care of the large group noticed me. She immediately informed me that it was too late for us to have dinner as they had closed for the evening at 8:00. When we returned to our vehicle, the time was 8:14. We have enjoyed Sterling’s as long as they have been here. I’m sure the proprietor(s) would like all of their staff to send the same information to all...
Read moreI was really excited to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews, but after actually eating at Sterlings, I have no idea how anyone could say such positive things.
I had the potato skins as an appetizer which were frankly inedible. The cheese wasn't even melted and the potatoes were not cooked all the way through, they crunched. I had the filet mignon as an entree. The meat was tough and flavorless, the quality was definitely not worth the $24 price tag. Moreover, the salad was wilted and the rice tasted suspiciously similar to one of Uncle Ben's pre-made instant rice bags.
My date ordered the nights special, a new york strip with a cheese sauce with the vegetables as a side. The corn was flavorless and again, his steak was tough and bland, even with the sauce. We both went home disappointed, and were actually nauseous for the remainder of the evening. I could understand if one entree or appetizer was sub-par but the lack of quality across the board was a huge, very expensive letdown.
The decor was classy and our waitress was alway prompt and kind; however, I don't feel like these two redeeming qualities make up for the worst--and most expensive!--meal I have had since coming to...
Read moreBecause my grandparents (in their 80's) have trouble cooking for themselves they enjoy eating out often. They have historically enjoyed eating at Sterlings. However, since my grandmother had a health chrisis earlier this year they haven't ventured out in many months. Yesterday they decided to enjoy a first day out of the house in a very long time and patronize one of their favorite establishments. However, they were not met with the friendly atmosphere they were expecting. Other patrons openly, loudly, cruelly, and pointlessly, mocked them for being both elderly and disabled and the employees did nothing to intervene. My grandfather called us shaken and discouraged by what he had witnessed and I am writing this review to hopefully prevent this sort of mistreatment from happening to elderly or disabled people at Sterlings in the future. I am shocked that this is the sort of culture Sterlings tolerates among both their patrons and employees and hope they can take measures to prevent this sort of mistreatment from occuring again in their establishment...
