Elly's Mexican Tacos — Restaurant in Bartlett

Today I ordered 2 tacos 1 Sopa and 1 Torta and 1 large Horchata. We dined in so I asked if they offered chips and salsa. They said "No, it is extra". I said no problem and asked how much it was. They were changing $6.99. I declined because I felt that was overpriced.

We got our food. There was barely any steak on the torta. And they were charging $12.75 for it. I normally don't complain as I used to be in the food service industry and know how it is but decided to bring it up to them due to the price. I asked if they could put more steak on the torta. The cook came to the front and was extremely rude and said "if you don't like the food then just give it back and we will give you a refund.". I told him that I wanted to get what I paid for and to not my money back. And he said something about it being portion controlled and he just works there but continue to be rude and said he could just give me my money back. After some arguing back and forth we decided to give him the food back. My wife ate half of her food I took two sips of my horchata and he only refunded me everything but the $8 for the sope.

This was extremely unprofessional. Again I don't complain much especially with reviews, however this was very disrespectful.

I asked to speak to the owner and when he would be in but they said they don't know and we're extremely dismissive.

Another thing to note is that we ordered off of the large menu in the restaurant then come to realize that most items listed on the receipt where at least $0.75 more that we paid for. We ended up paying over $3.50 more than what was advertised on there menu that people order from every day.

Buyer beware please make sure you check your receipt when you order from there. I did bring this up to the cashier and he said "oh yeah those prices are old". I understand that but they should be updated it would take no more than 20 minutes to update the menu.

UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE: I find it very interesting that you would resort to defaming me as a person. Not one thing I said was racist. That's a disgusting thing to say about me or anyone. Also, to even bring up my daughter and wife is a bit absurd and distasteful. I didn't get personal with you on my review. I just reviewed a horrible experience I had.

What's more interesting is that looking at all the reviews, if someone has a complaint, instead of addressing the situation you just call people liars and racists. I'm sorry but no business is perfect and you seem to do no wrong in your mind. Take responsibility sometimes instead of attacking a customer online and getting personal.

We ordered 2 steak tacos with cilantro and onions, 2 American style steak tacos, 1 steak tostada, 1 chicken tostada, 1 chicken tamale and a side of guacamole, order came to $44. The steak is decently flavorful the chicken is ok too but a bit on the dry side. The chicken tamale is good, needs some red sauce or something. The tostadas have too much lettuce though. The guacamole is made fresh and tastes pretty good but I think it was $6.99 (without chips) and it’s probably only about 3.5 oz. The employees were very kind and helpful, the inside is a cute space. I would eat here again but it wouldn’t be my first choice. And I’d definitely choose steak over chicken. I’d grade this...

We get salsa all the time from here over the last few months because we really enjoy it. By the cup loads.. they gave us verde which we do not like. No big deal, I called and asked if we could come in to get the salsa we asked and payed for. When I went in today to get the salsa the cook basically told me that if I don’t enjoy the salsa to go elsewhere. How about you give me what I asked and payed for and the problem is solved. He should not be allowed to speak to customers. We won’t be back. We will not promote a business like this that has some cook who thinks it is best to speak to people with disrespect. Never have I had some sort of issue like this....
