EDIT : If you asked me prior to today where my favorite coffee shop is, I would have told you here. After my experience today, I don’t know if and when I’ll be able to return.
I ordered a cake pop and a coffee while we looked over the menu and decided on lunch. When I sat down and took a bit of my cake pop, I noticed that it smelled bad and then tasted bad… really bad. I thought maybe it was the green sprinkles or something but inspected it closely. Where the exterior of the cake was underneath the icing was covered in green mold. Not a little, completely covered. I immediately spit it out and went to the bathroom to rinse my mouth and throat since I’m highly allergic to mold. I showed the women at the front and they promptly refunded my $3 and brought me a $5 gift certificate.
Then we ordered our food. My food was good and hot, but my friend ordered the chicken sandwich and when she bit into it, it was still pink. They replaced it but forgot to put any bacon on it when they remade it.
I then ordered a to go order for my husband. The chicken salad on a croissant and waffle fries. The crowd had cleared out and it had been a little over 35-40 minutes since I ordered and saw any food come from the kitchen, so I asked if they could check. I realized that about 15-20 minutes prior an order had been brought down in a black to go bag but assumed that it was someone else’s since no one brought it to us. The woman who had helped us with the previous issues told me that it was sat at the front. I stated that I wanted to check to make sure that it was still warm since it had been sitting there for a while. She stated that the chicken salad was cold, but I was referring to the waffle fries. I felt some heat still coming off of them and we had been there long enough so I figured that I’d warm them up once I got home. Frustrating that you have to do that but I just wanted to leave at this point.
Hours later, I’ve taken multiple benedryl and my throat and face are still itchy from the moldy cake pop. My husband has had some mild food poisoning this evening. I know that his food didn’t sit long enough on the counter to make him sick but not sure what temp it was at before that. This is not how we planned on spending our Saturday evening. We had to leave an event early because of the food we chose to eat.
Previous review: I just absolutely love this place. Their chai tea lattes are great. Best cake pops ever. Love the breakfast sandwiches and...
Read moreHorrible and I should had called the police because they literally robbed me without serving my whole plate and charging me the full price of the dish! I drove 45 minutes to go to this place, waited 2:hrs to get the plate with 2 toasts…. And 2 scrambled eggs. I asked the girl why the eggs were that orange color and she said it is hot sauce. I am allergic to peppers , could you make a new one with only salt , please? Yes, sure! My cappuccino and my water bottle were on the table, my friend had her plate and her drink. I ate one toast because I was starving planning to get breakfast there, right?? So I was left with one! ☝🏼 toast and half of a cappuccino, and half a bottle of water and my friend eating very slowly her 2 toasts and scrambled eggs with the hot sauce mixed in the kitchen and drinking her drink… while I was looking for my eggs and finish my cold cappuccino and the soggy toast you a thin light nice spread of an avocado paste. We waited 1hr and over 30 minutes to get one of the 16 yrs old girl back to our table … to tell me that the kitchen didn’t want to make the eggs!!! Can you believe?? Than I said : I am not going to pay the full price for tone toast and half of a cappuccino and half of a water bottle!! $ 40 dollars the hole bill!!! And the girl said she could not do anything because the manager wasn’t there and she could do 15% off!!! I just had to laugh and ask for the manager and the owner and they start to smile at me saying that both were not there!!!! What kind of a place at brunch and lunch time don’t have a manager in a restaurant? People of common sense…… How can a manager leave a restaurant with 5, young girls in charge of everything in a Brew and Bean restaurant serving some man that were there also!? And not take off what I order and did not eat because they didn’t make it!! I would have gone to the kitchen to make my own eggs with only my right hand because all the radiation in my brain I got to kill 13tumors left my left side of my body paralyzed!!! Horrible experience!! Never go to that place! The owner should close that place!!! It is literally embarrassing for him to have it and not work there!!! Man, you cannot manage a business! When I got home and told him the story, he said I should had call the police because I was robbed!! BTW...
Read moreI'm still surprised how terrible of an experience we had here. We were looking forward to trying this new local spot and were so disappointed. First, its seat yourself, which is no problem but there is no sign that says order at the bar, so we sat there for a bit waiting for a server. Then, when we went to order at the bar, the menu was completely different than what was posted online. We ordered 2 waters, wings and a pizza. They were not able to let us to 2 different sauces on the wings without double charging us - which I feel is a pretty common request. When you have to order everything at the bar, a water fountain is helpful or else you'd have to wait in line every time you wanted more water with your meal. Our food arrived in a decent amount of time, with no plates, no utensils, no napkins. Our server came back with 2 plates, literally slammed them on the table, and walked away. Sometime later, another staff member walked by, looked at us and with an attitude said "is your order wrong?" It wasn't, but a strange way to interact. We asked her for napkins and she never came back. We grabbed napkins from a clean stack on the table next to us that hadnt been bussed yet. The wings here were decent - the pizza tasted worst than frozen pizzas at home, it was terrible, not to mention expensive for the size!!! We weren't timely brought our check, so I waited at bar for it. The only bartender was socializing at tables and talking to her friends while customers waited at the bar. We will never eat at this place again. It was a terrible experience. Maybe this place will stay open because there is a shortage of places in Batavia, but gosh - their service and food need major work. It was awful, not one staff member said thank you the...
