I waited a few days before I left this review because I was disappointed in the experience I had. I was with a big group, so even though the restaurant was nowhere near crowded, I expected our food to take a while.
I ordered the bottomless mimosas and a half and half 16 inch pizza. I got half flying pig and half bbq chicken. The bbq chicken half barely had any chicken. It really tasted like cheese pizza with onions and bbq sauce. When she brought the pizza she told me she messed it up and she got me fighting tiger which she tried to convince me they were basically the same thing but later reading the description, they absolutely are not. But she said they would remake the other half for me, which was fine and I got it to go. At that point, I was so hungry I didn’t care so I just started eating. I didn’t even get to take a picture which really isn’t like me. After I had eaten 3 slices, I saw 2 hairs on the plate I was eating off of. I asked the person sitting next to me at the table if it was hair, she confirmed. I didn’t make a big deal, I waited until she came back and quietly showed her the hairs on the plate. She looked and said oh my gosh, I’m sorry, shook her head and took the plate.
She was doing some other things and came back to the table but she didn’t bring me another plate so I quietly said, can I get another plate please, and she brought it.
I continued to eat because I really was hungry but when I got my check, nothing was taken off. I didn’t expect a free meal because I did eat but any acknowledgment of wrongdoing would have given me some comfort. Because I knew she was busy and I thought she may have forgotten, after I paid, I asked her if they really intended to not do anything about the hair on my plate and she said no. I said okay.
I think if the pizzas were made like they were on the menu and I got what I ordered, I would have enjoyed the food more. I have never had an experience like this at any other city pork restaurant so I was very...
Read moreOnly tried this place to earn airline miles before my miles expired. However, I must have done so incorrectly because I did not earn miles from this order. Ordered a Bayou specialty pizza online on a local game day.Never received confirmation that order was being processed. Yet, I read a previous review saying sometimes the wait is 30 to 45 minutes so I dismissed it. Drove over to the restaurant which was a small, nice laidback sports bars atmosphere and crowded. The streets were packed with LSU fans shopping or walking towards campus for the game. There is very limited parking space since that part of town in jammed packed with businesses by LSU and it was also an LSU home game day. Yet, luckily, I was able to park nearby. Went to the bar and asked about my order. There was a new guy who was still training but he was friendly and went got someone who could help. The young lady he asked checked on the status of my order then apologized for seeing my online order being received but not yet made, told me give them fifteen minutes to make my pizza, and refunded me immediately for my order of a taco since it's crazy on game day and they don't do tacos on game day. The packed bar was very diverse with individuals from different backgrounds and so were the staff who obviously loved working there. Like the young lady said it was ready within fifteen minutes. The pizza was delicious and well made. I will go there again to try...
Read moreCity Slice is another North Gates hotspot, the kind of no-frills joint where the beer is cold, the slices are massive, and the conversations spill out onto the sidewalk.
It’s a student haunt, a grease-stained sanctuary where you can grab a beer, lean back, and let the day unravel over a pie that doesn’t just fill you up—it fights back.
I go straight for the Fighting Tiger—
a ten-inch beast loaded with pepperoni, bacon, ham, Italian sausage, andouille, and ground beef. This is excess in its finest form, a red-sauce brawl of smoky, spicy, and salty flavors, a pizza that eats like a bar fight at an old-school butcher shop. The crust is crisp but still has that New York chew, soaking up every last drop of meaty indulgence.
City Slice isn’t just slinging pizza—it’s making Louisiana proud with toppings like duck bacon, alligator sausage, and boudin for those looking to take things a step further into the weird and wonderful.
And with 29 beers on tap, including local brews, it’s the perfect place to drink something hoppy while watching a late-night slice disappear before your eyes.
You come here for the food, but you stay for the scene—students, locals, and die-hards knocking back pitchers, talking baseball, and letting the night stretch out like a good dough. Whether it’s a post-class bite or a 2 a.m. decision you’ll only half-regret, City...
