Pura Vida Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Baton Rouge

This is going to be a great place when they hit their stride! The physical space is really nice, spacious, clean, tropical. My cappuccino was delicious. I did order the hot chicken sandwich on ciabatta, which is where I had some problems. First of all I was given 8 potato chips, which seems a little skimpy. The honey was on the outside of the sandwich so every time I picked it up my hands got sticky. When I hear hot chicken, I think fried chicken, but it was sliced chicken, small detail. The sandwich itself was really good, the ciabatta bread was the highlight! They have applied for their alcohol license according to a sign in the door. Out of all the coffee shops in Baton Rouge, Pura Vida is the place to go! The baristas, cooks, and owners are all amazing people who make you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. The coffee is great with very fitting homemade flavors that match the island vibe of the shop, I personally love the Coco Loco. They also have a wide range of food options that taste as amazing as they look (def try the Island Bloom salad). I have been coming here again and again, and have yet to be let down by anything, I just don't think that is part of Pura Vida's vocabulary. I expected Pura Vida to have great coffee, given the environment, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food items are as well! So far, I've had their Cali Club, Hot Honey Chicken, and Caprese flatbread sandwiches, and all 3 were REALLY good. I requested added chicken to the Caprese, and the staff was happy to do so, without any extra charge. Their coffee is also great. The Coastal Cruz and Coco(nut) Loco hit the mark!
